Amendment 28 Proposed by Citizens of America
Making the rounds these days is a recommended Constitutional Amendment. While many have reached the point of desiring Congressional Term Limits, the following is an amendment a majority of Americans should be able to quickly promote. Doubt if those rascals in Congress would agree.
Thomas Jefferson said, "When the people fear their government there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty" It is time for the government to start fearing to at least live like we do.
Proposed Amendment 28 for your Consideration and Comment:
Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators or Representatives, and Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States.
As one reader said, "Let's get this passed around, folks - these clowns in Washington have brought this upon themselves!" Considered the phrase "Equal pay for equal work." Based on past non-quality performance and failure to follow the Constitution; most of the members of Congress owe the American Citizen's a huge refund of their pay. While we will never see such a refund, it is worthy to consider the above proposed amendment.
A few of our ancestors understood Congress very well and for some reason we have failed to heed their words of wisdom:

If the present Congress errs in too much talking, how can it be otherwise in a body to which the people send one hundred and fifty lawyers, whose trade it is to question everything, yield nothing, and talk by the hour? ~ Thomas Jefferson
The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money. ~ Alexis de Tocqueville
We have the right as individuals to give away as much of our own money as we please in charity; but as members of Congress we have no right to appropriate a dollar of the public money. ~ Davy Crockett
Suppose you were an idiot, and suppose you were a member of Congress; but I repeat myself. ~ Mark Twain
There is no distinctly American criminal class - except Congress. ~ Mark Twain
We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution. ~ Abraham Lincoln
This country has come to feel the same when Congress is in session as when the baby gets hold of a hammer. ~ Will Rogers
The only difference between death and taxes is that death doesn't get worse every time Congress meets. ~ Will Rogers
You can lead a man to Congress, but you can't make him think. ~ Milton Berle
Being elected to Congress is regarded as being sent on a looting raid for one's friends. ~ George Will

Now this is a Great Idea-just not quite sure how we could ever get it through that mess in Washington though-they would declare Martial Law before they ever gave up their perks and pensions !!
Oh if were only this simple!
GREAT 2010 Campaign roposal!!! Pass this around if you are SICK TO DEATH OF CONGRESS!!!
This is one of the best ideas I've seen in a long time. Where do I sign up to get involved in pushing for this Amendment? No more half-measures, citizens. Our elected officials have transcended their positions and elevated themselves above everyone. No use voting people out of office when the mechanisms of an entrenched self-serving institution and habits of power in Congress pervade and corrupt every new official that enters those hallowed chambers, no matter how independent and honest they mean to be. This is NOT what our Founding Fathers meant to be...a government by the people and for the people!
Is there an actual proposed amendment somewhere that we can review on the net?
SMF,
There are lots of Amendment 28 proposals out there. All addressing different issues, etc. I know of no proposed amendment by either Congress or the States for such a proposal.
In this post, we find citizens' reasoned logic (nothing more) coming to the forefront. If seems only right that since Congress works for We The People in their districts that if and when they impose something on the people they should have to follow the same rules, regulations, benefits, etc.
Maybe some of the grassroots logic will find its way back to Washington, D.C. and into the US Congress. We still have hope even though proposed change has proven to be a fiasco.
This would be the best thing ever to happen to American politics. Finally, a way to make the congress & senate personally responsible to their constituents!
