Post Election Retrospects
The below letter to the editor is by Robert "Bob" McDowell, Jr. He is a Professional Engineer and Geologist with over 50 years experience in creating drilling prospects, supervising drilling, well completion, production operation, and pipeline design for oil and gas including repair of problem wells. McDowell is a conservative and active in the Oklahoma Republican Assembly.
By Bob McDowell: We lost, to the detriment of the USA! The 'takers' and Communists/Socialists managed to fool a majority of those who chose to vote and carried the day. No need to repeat the fears for the future that have been in previous writings, but we are in for four years of more and increasing problems for those of us who still believe in the 'Rule of Law' whereby the U.S. Constitution is deemed to be the supreme law of the land and subject to change only by a constitutional amendment. Instead, PRESBO, as he has been doing for almost four years, will probably continue to 'rule' by Executive Order to the losing of our freedom and well being. Don't blame me, I did not vote for him. Those who did ot vote are equally guilty with those who said "D".
Already reports are coming in of businesses, both large and small, instituting lay-offs and reducing hours for part-time employees. That's creating jobs? Boeing has issued 'notice of lay-off' papers to a reported 12,000 employees. A source considered reliable reported that a friend of his had on November 7 laid off at least four employees because of "Obamacare" in order to get his staff under the 50 limit and is contemplating reducing the part-time employee weekly work time to less than 20. And that is just the tip of the iceberg in my, and others, opinion.
However, we should always look to the reasons for this set-back or we will continue to make the same errors in the future, just as the Communist/Socialist 'rulers' in Washington and some state capitals have been doing. It is well accepted by those of the 'Constitutional' believing crowd that it is insanity to keep repeating the same things that went wrong and expect a different outcome. The change must begin at the bottom, in the education system that has for decades been captured by the Communist/Socialist followers and their willing accomplices in the teachers unions.
First in the retrospect is the fact that the Republican candidates were both from the North, Romney from Mass. and Ryan from Wis. It doesn't matter how they may be oriented mentally, just being from the 'liberal' northern states leaves the impression on many uninformed and too lazy to find out their true intentions. It was well documented by past performance that Gov. Romney operated from a more liberal basis than the historic Republican principles. It was my opinion from the beginning that to win the Presidential candidate MUST be a true constitutional conservative from a state that followed that line in its government.
It is also my opinion, since there were reported to be more than two million FEWER total votes cast than in 2008, that large numbers of supporters of the candidates not selected as the nominee simply sat at home, or omitted to vote for President. This seems to be particularly true for those who were supporting Rep. Ron Paul, MD, TX. Some here in Tulsa County have simply backed out of any activities or offices held in the Party after the primaries were decided. Along that line, there have been reports of tens of thousands of overseas military personnel ballots that were either delayed in transmission, 'lost', or just not counted by corrupt election staff.
As for the future, we must be willing to 'play the hand we were dealt' and go on from here to hope to take back the Republican Party from the "D.C. establishment" group that seems to feel that presidential nominees must come from a 'line' of long time office holders whose 'turn' it becomes in any particular year to be the nominee. If we are to save our freedom, it will be necessary to become more active in local party affairs and hold to the fire the feet of those who have been elected to public office. We cannot prevail if we are a minority in legislative bodies, and so must see elected those who will support our principles.
