Trump Wins Neveda GOP Caucus for third Win In A Row
ARRA News Service: (Updated 3:21 pm)The results last night for yesterday's Nevada GOP Caucuses with 30 delegates at stake has again sent shock waves through the traditional Republican establishment. Donald Trump won for the third straight win in a row after having placed second in Iowa. Donald Trump won with 34,531 votes for 45.9% of the vote and scored 14 more delegates.
A summary for the GOP presidential candidates and number of delegates won are illustrated by the snapshot of the Washington Times Post graphic.
Rubio secured 23.9% (7 delegates), Cruz 21.4% (6 delegates), Carson 4.8% (1 delegate) and Kasich 3.6% (1 delegate).
Philip Bump commented in The Fix in The Washington Post, "Donald Trump won New Hampshire, a moderate Northeastern state that prides itself on its sober analysis of the candidates at hand. Donald Trump won South Carolina, a conservative Southern state with a number of religious voters. Donald Trump has now won Nevada, a Western state with its own eclectic mix of Republican voting groups.
"Trump won them all. According to preliminary entrance poll data reported by CNN, he won every age group and every education group and both genders -- and even every racial and ethnic group. About 1 in 10 Nevada Republicans were Hispanic. More than 4 in 10 of them backed Donald Trump ....
"Nevada Republicans are mad at the government. ... And voters didn't want a politician to address that anger. Six in 10 Nevada Republicans said that they were looking for the next president to be someone from "outside politics." That's 6 in 10 of a "huge" turnout, by the way. And 70 percent of them voted for Donald Trump."
Sounds like Harry Reid and his fellow Democrats have really screwed up Nevada.
Gary Bauer noted that according to various media surveys of caucus goers:
61% wanted the GOP nominee to be a political outsider. Trump won 70% of those voters.
58% were angry at the federal government.
Evangelical turnout was significantly higher this year (39%) than it was in 2012 (28%) and 2008 (24%). Trump carried 40% of the evangelical vote.
While Hispanics were a small part of the electorate, Trump carried 45% of Latino voters.
The GOP candidates will meet tomorrow night for a debate in Houston, Texas. After that, the primary race becomes a national competition as more than a dozen states are set to vote on Super Tuesday, March 1st. The following is a CNN video of Donald J. Trump delivering his victory speech in Nevada:
