Why I Told Cavuto That #NeverTrump Is Absolutely Insane

You wouldn't think you'd be inviting mass condemnation simply because you make the simple statement that Republicans should support whoever is the Republican nominee in the general election. That's about as boilerplate a political position as you're going to hear anywhere. Yet I saw yesterday that I was trending all over social media because I said on Cavuto (and again later on Hannity) that it's absolutely insane for Republicans to try to sabotage Donald Trump, when there is every reason to believe he could end up the Republican nominee.
Here is the entire seven-minute interview:
The Republican Party establishment, which is now in such a panic over Trump's candidacy, needs to understand one of the reasons Trump is doing so well is that Trump voters don't feel the Republican establishment listens to them. And by trying to sabotage Trump, they are once again not listening to these folks.
Contrary to what a lot of the media would have you believe, I have still not endorsed anyone in this race. My original Pick Six included Trump, Cruz and Rubio. I've appeared at campaign events for both Trump and Cruz - and I would have done so for Rubio had I been asked. I have no problem whatsoever with big Cruz supporters or big Rubio supporters trying to wrest the nomination away from Trump. Of course they're going to do that at this stage of the game. Trump hasn't yet earned the delegate necessary to win the nomination and his rivals should do everything they can to either make him earn it or deny it to him.
What's insane, however, is this #NeverTrump movement of so-called intellectual conservatives that would even allow Hillary Clinton to become president in order to stop Donald Trump. Why do you think that's OK?
Yesterday on the radio, I addressed the question of what would happen if the next Congress passed an ObamaCare repeal, and asked whether you would want President Trump or President Hillary in office when that happened. Since that segment, Trump released his much more detailed seven-point health care reform plan, which we covered earlier this morning. You intellectual conservatives, I understand that you don't like Donald Trump. Fine. I defy you to read the plan and find a problem with it, and I defy you to tell me you would rather have Hillary Clinton in the White House than the person who proposes this plan.
There is no perfect nominee, and that certainly includes Donald Trump. But given the alternative, and given the clear verdict we're hearing from primary voters, it is beyond insane to try to sabotage him when he may very well be the only chance we have to keep Hillary Clinton out of the White House.
