Trump Gets A Bounce, Democratic National Chaos, Wasserman Schultz Is Out, Blaming Putin
by Gary Bauer, Contributing Author: Trump Gets A Bounce - The latest CNN poll finds Donald Trump earning a six point bounce from last week's GOP convention. Trump currently leads Clinton by three points: 48% to 45%. Before the convention, Clinton led 49% to 42%.
Here are some other findings from the poll:
Evangelicals & Trump - How should values voters approach the 2016 election? Last week, at the Republican National Convention, I participated in a panel discussion hosted by Politico with other leaders in the pro-family, pro-life movement about the 2016 contest and the choice before us.
It was a fascinating discussion. If you are struggling with how to cast your ballot this November, I encourage you to read the transcript of our talk. Too much is at stake to sit on the sidelines or waste your vote on candidates who can't win.
DNC: Democratic National Chaos - As the Democratic National Convention gets underway today, chaos is breaking out in the party of Clinton and Obama. Over the weekend, hacked emails from the national party's headquarters were posted on WikiLeaks. There were numerous shocking revelations.
For starters, the party bosses were clearly colluding with the Clinton campaign during the entire primary season, in spite of repeated denials and claims of impartiality. They were lying the whole time. The system, as Bernie Sanders so often said, really was rigged against him.
In fact, one email shows party leaders were plotting to smear Sanders as an atheist.
Democratic National Committee chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz announced yesterday that she would resign her position at the end of this week, once the party's convention has concluded. But shortly after news of her resignation was announced, the Clinton campaign only highlighted the collusion by naming Wasserman Schultz an honorary chairman of the campaign.
This morning, Wasserman Schultz was shouted down as she attempted to address the delegation from her home state of Florida. Meanwhile, rumors are swirling that more emails may be leaked in coming days, perhaps even some from Hillary's private server.
By the way, last week a woman mocked RNC Chairman Reince Priebus for some of the difficulties Republicans were having at their convention. She tweeted, "Hey @Reince -- I'm in Cleveland if you need another chair to help keep your convention in order." That woman was Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who apparently is no longer welcome at her own convention.
Update: Debbie Wasserman Schultz is OUT! (CNN reports) "The Democratic National Convention kicked off Monday without its outgoing Democratic National Committee chairwoman, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, following a chaotic scene at a morning meeting where she was loudly jeered by Bernie Sanders supporters.
"I have decided that in the interest of making sure that we can start the Democratic convention on a high note that I am not going to gavel in the convention," Wasserman Schultz told the Sun Sentinel newspaper in an interview.
Blaming Putin - Democrats and their media allies are attempting to blame the DNC email hack on another country. Clinton campaign manager Robbie Mook told CNN, "What's disturbing to us is that experts are telling us Russian state actors broke into the DNC, stole these emails, and other experts are now saying that the Russians are releasing these emails for the purpose of actually helping Donald Trump."
Just consider the chutzpah of America's left. Does anyone notice the irony of suggesting that there is Russian interference in our election?
The Obama Administration tried to defeat the prime minister of our most reliable ally! Top Obama campaign operatives were parachuted into Tel Aviv during last year's Israeli elections. State Department money -- your tax dollars -- was spent building a campaign apparatus to defeat Benjamin Netanyahu. Obama went to London and tried to browbeat British voters into opposing the Brexit vote.
But let's examine the theory that Vladimir Putin somehow prefers Donald Trump. Why would Putin want a candidate whose main slogans are "Make America strong again" and "Make America great again"? Why would he reject the nominee of the party who won't raise defense spending and who has appeased Putin at virtually every opportunity?
It was Hillary Clinton who famously handed the Russians a "reset" button. And every day since, Obama has been demonstrating his "flexibility."
Obviously at Putin's orders, Russian jets, bombers, and ships have engaged in provocative maneuvers near U.S. assets. These maneuvers have been breathtakingly dangerous. In one instance, a Russian jet conducted simulated attack runs against a U.S. destroyer. And yet there has been virtually no response except a statement condemning their unprofessionalism.
Putin invaded Ukraine, seized the Crimean peninsula and got little more than a lecture. The Russians shot down a civilian jet liner with no serious consequences. When Republicans insisted we should help the Ukrainians, Obama sent them socks.
When Obama refused to enforce his own red line against Assad in Syria, Putin stepped in and sent in troops to bolster his ally Assad. When Russia started bombing targets in Syria, they first bombed U.S.-aligned rebels before they went after ISIS.
Last month, Russia bombed a base used by U.S. and British special forces just hours after they left the base. Many experts believe the strike was a deliberate reminder that Russia controls the airspace.

Here are some other findings from the poll:
- Trump boosted his favorability rating seven points -- from 39% to 46%.
- Going into the convention, Trump enjoyed a 21-point lead over Clinton among white voters without college degrees -- the forgotten Americans he is promising to champion. Clearly, his message struck a nerve with these voters. He now leads by 39 points among this demographic.
- 52% believe Trump is running "for the good of the country rather than personal gain." Only 44% say the same about Hillary.
