Get Over It. We Did
by Bob McDowell, Contributing Author: It seems that those of the communist or socialist mentality and a significant portion of the “press,” will not only stoop to the lowest forms of campaign rhetoric but will also use outright lies or made up stories. They present these as "news" during the election campaigns. Then, after their preferred candidate loses, they refuse to accept the loss and opt to continue their ‘mean mouthed’ and untrue or twisted statements about the victors. ‘And the beat goes on,’ and on being joined by those in the ‘entertainment’ business who spout their personal attacks and fabrications.
All this nefarious activity is totally improper in a supposedly civilized society. Maybe their desire is for the USA to descend into a morass of anarchy and chaos in which evil and brute force will prevail. Hard to believe? Take time to review the tyranny in the rise of the Soviet Union or the Nazi in Germany and even numerous dictatorships.
We have seen examples of individuals and groups screaming loudly against the duly elected president. Further, they now claim is made that the Electoral College should be abolished and said election determined by the ‘popular vote’ alone. In this their claims, they seek to subvert our "democracy.” They advance a bold faced lie, which a reading of the US Constitution and ‘Federalist Papers will disclose is not the form of government intended by the founders. Our founders wanted neither a monarchy nor dictatorship. They had obtained freedom, after much loss and bloodshed.
The Electoral College was established at the demand of several of the new "states", so that the more populous states could not capture elections, and work havoc on the well being of the smaller states. In a way, it mirrors the intent of having a bicameral Congress where the House is representing the population and members are elected from districts of nearly equal population while the Senate was represented by two members per state. In 1913, Amendment changed the selection of members, still two per each state, to a popular state vote from the selection by the State Governments.
Back to the current situation, where some cry to abolish Electoral College because there were more votes cast for the loser than for the winner. From my own experience as a Party County Chairman, it is certain that vote fraud does exist. In some states the problem may be on a larger scale then in other states. There are often names of dead people voted in elections, due to the failure to purge voter rolls. Then there are states like California where illegals may be voting.
Eliminating the Electoral College would be a step toward destroying our Republic. It would turn the selection over to a mob vote, And, it would not protect the interest of the States as foreseen by the founders of our Nation.
