Internet Taxes and Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson

Ray Osment rebutted that letter to the editor and said the majority of sales tax dollars go to support local public schools, fire and police and closed with this paragraph, "Ms. Pelley, you're correct, most Arkansans don't want to pay more taxes, but I do think that most Arkansans want to do what's right."
What's right is to abide by Constitution and the law of the land and protect the interests of the citizens.
Just before the Arkansas legislative session closed the House voted on SB140, the internet sales tax bill.
However, As detailed by Conduit for Action: "Under Quill vs. North Dakota, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that a person without a physical presence in a state cannot be forced by a state government to collect and remit sales taxes. . . .
Specifically, Arkansas SB140 [internet sales tax bill] violates the Commerce Clause and the Dormant Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution as these internet purchases fall within the purview of interstate commerce.",/a> The bill failed in the Akansas House with 43 votes for the bill. It required 51.
Government employees (even Republicans) nearly always seem to be more concerned about the government's supposed need for money than they are about the citizens' pocketbooks or about the law. According to a Democrat Gazette article, Governor Hutchinson said to count him as a supporter of SB140 and quoted Governor Hutchinson as saying, "This will be resolved. It is just a matter of time...so we'll see when that can be addressed in a future legislative session."
Under Governor Hutchinson's management, the legislature this session has raised every tax they could raise where they could make the people believe it was not a tax, and apparently the governor plans to do the same in future sessions.
And yes, Mr. Osment, we do want good public schools, firemen and policemen; but we want the government to run government business with the same restraints and conservative financial decisions as we the citizens do - and to quit wasting our money and then using the excuse that every tax increase is for more firemen, policemen, and better schools.
