Begging For War, DACA Done, Back To School, Left-wing Bigotry

These so-called "experts" are responsible for creating the situation we have now. Twenty-five years of "leaders" continually operating on the assumption that war is unacceptable has left the United States with no good options and a myriad of terrible choices.
- You go to war and it is possible that the death toll will be extraordinary.
- You could engage in an economic war, which will hurt the U.S. economy, and, if effective, may still lead to war with North Korea.
- You put another band aid on this boil and accept nuclear blackmail. It won't be long before the North Koreans have missiles aimed at half a dozen U.S. cities and start demanding that we evacuate bases in South Korea and Japan.
I saw three quotes over the weekend which help to explain the crosscurrents in this debate:
- An unnamed national security official said, "The North Koreans have a (U.S.) city-buster."
- During an emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council, Ambassador Nikki Haley said that Kim Jong-un's "abusive use of missiles, and his nuclear threats show that he is begging for war."
- Finally, multiple commentators on virtually every network responded to President Trump's tweet about suspending trade with China. In one way or another, they all whined, "But the new iPhone will cost twice as much!"
DACA Done - Attorney General Jeff Sessions held a press conference this morning announcing the Trump Administration's intention to "wind down" the deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) program.
DACA was a quasi-amnesty established by an Obama executive order -- after Obama publicly said more than 20 times that he did not have the authority to unilaterally change the law.
Ten state attorneys general have filed suit demanding that a federal court strike down the executive order as unconstitutional. The courts have already struck down a similar Obama program, and the expectation is that they will do so again.
This is not an insignificant point, my friends. The Constitution matters. The rule of law matters. In fact, the contents of a letter former President Obama left for President Trump in the Oval Office were released this weekend by CNN. In that letter, Obama wrote this:
In spite of the left's mass hysteria, the Trump Administration's suspension of DACA is the compassionate approach. The six-month phase out is intended to give Congress time to create an appropriate legislative solution that is compassionate and helps solve our illegal immigration problem.
That last point is the fly in the ointment. Speaker Paul Ryan has already talked to Nancy Pelosi on how they can work together to renew DACA. Senators Lindsey Graham and John McCain are promising to move swiftly.
If Republican leaders work with Democrats to renew this program while not funding the president's border wall or taking other steps to ensure that we don't have another million "Dreamers" a few years from now, they will blow up the future of the Republican Party.
I know many of them think the exact opposite is the case. But they should ponder how it would look to conservatives if the first major initiative that passes Congress is not a repeal of Obamacare, not funding for the border wall, not tax reform, but preserving an Obama initiative loved by the left. Stay tuned.
Back To School - As the new school year gets underway, I want to encourage parents to be especially vigilant about what their children are learning in the classroom. The educational establishment is dominated by the left, and increasingly the far, far left.
Sadly, reports indicate that many public school teachers are members of radical, violent left-wing groups like BAMN and Antifa. There is certainly a lot of evidence to support it.
One middle school teacher in Berkeley is facing charges for inciting a riot. Remember the journalism professor who called for "muscle" to remove a student reporter covering a campus demonstration? There is no shortage of wannabe fascists in the faculty lounge who compare conservatives to Nazis and who support violence against those with whom they disagree.
Don't take anything for granted. Ask your children what their teachers and professors are telling them. Google the names of their teachers and professors. Know what your tax dollars and tuition fees are paying for.
Left-wing Bigotry - A new organization has launched an effort to identify and register "disaffected and patriotic Americans" in New Hampshire. But to the state's top Democrat, they are all bigots.
When asked about this new voter registration effort aimed at working class New Hampshirites, Ray Buckley, chairman of the New Hampshire Democrat Party, said, "The organizing and activating of these extremists, these white supremacists, really could have a detrimental effect on the entire culture of New Hampshire."
Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D) and Maggie Hassan (D), as well as Representatives Carol Shea-Porter (D) and Ann McLane Kuster (D) should denounce Buckley's bigoted remarks and demand his resignation.
