ARRA Board Endorses Romney

by Dr. Patrick Briney, ARRA President: Mitt Romney received the endorsement by the conservative ARRA board of directors yesterday. The board was polled to determine whether to endorse a candidate, how to conduct such an endorsement, and then which candidate to endorse.

The Florida primary results, the delegate count, candidate attrition, and national polls show that the Republican primary has come down to a two man contest between Mitt Romney and John McCain. As of January 29, 2008, the delegate count for the remaining Republican candidates is: John McCain 98, Mitt Romney 61, Mike Huckabee 26, and Ron Paul 8.

Clearly, conservatives will support Romney over McCain. Some will make statement votes and leave the outcome to be decided by others. Understandably, many struggle with the moral dilemma between the ‘personal conscience vote’ and the ‘socially responsible vote’ addressed previously by ARRA President Dr. Patrick Briney. Readers are encouraged to read this article before casting a vote in the primaries.

Fred Thompson received the endorsement of ARRA during their August endorsement convention. Duncan Hunter was the runner up choice of the conservative group. However, now that both candidates have bowed out of the race, ARRA directors unanimously recommend that conservatives vote for Romney in the Super Tuesday primaries.

One of the purposes of ARRA is to provide leadership in the Republican party, and as the ‘conservative conscience’ for the party, ARRA recommends the best conservative candidates to vote for coming into Republican primary elections. Conservatives throughout the nation have been in disarray due to a lack of a strong conservative leader in the Republican field. Candidates have been either strong in conservative principle and weak in leadership or strong in leadership but weak in conservative principles.

Perhaps the biggest concern for social and religious conservatives has been the issue of life and family values. But Romney gained monumental momentum from endorsements of the likes of John Wilke, a physician, and president of both the Life Issues Institute, and International Right to Life Federation. Wilke said of Romney, "Unlike other candidates who only speak to the importance of confronting the major social issues of the day, Governor Romney has a record of action defending life …. Every decision he made as Governor was on the side of life. I know he will be the strong pro-life President we need in the White House." Likewise, Jim Bopp, who has served as legal counsel for numerous pro-life organizations recently endorsed Romney pointing out that, "He vetoed the bill on embryonic stem cell research and some other efforts to liberalize the Massachusetts abortion law.”

The two man race for delegates in Arkansas will require that conservatives vote for Romney. Votes for Huckabee and Paul will serve only to reduce the votes needed by Romney to win over McCain.

You guys amaze me. Romney FORCED Catholic Hospitals to provide the morning after abortion pill, against his own Department of Health Recommendations.

Have you no shame?

Are you kidding me? You think Mitt Romney is a conservative? Since when is being pro abortion, pro gay marriage, and pro gun control being a conservative? Please do not be fooled by the Mitt chameleon's current colors. See the real Mitt, in his own words:

Let us look at McCain’s conservative credentials:
-IMMIGRATION: he wrote the bill granting amnesty to illegal immigrants (co-sponsored by Ted Kennedy)
-SOCIAL SECURITY: he voted to give your social security money to illegal immigrants
-TAXES: he voted against the Bush tax cuts multiple times (he has since flip-flopped and has campaigned as a lifelong tax-cutter)
-RHETORIC: he routinely engages in Democratic class warfare against big companies in America, particularly the “evil” drug companies who research cures to debilitating diseases for a profit
-ECONOMY: as recently as December 2007 he admitted “he does not know the economy very well” and needed to get better at it
-1ST AMENDMENT: he wrote the McCain-Feingold campaign finance bill that was declared to be an unconstitutional infringement of the 1st Amendment (co-sponsored by ultra-liberal Democrat Russ Feingold)
-2ND AMENDMENT: he was called the “worst 2nd amendment candidate” by the president of the NRA
-ENERGY TAX: wrote a bill (co-sponsored by his buddy Lieberman) imposing a massive tax on energy which, according to the Department of Energy, would drastically raise the price of gasoline and put 300,000 Americans out of work
-GLOBAL WARMING: supports radical global warming legislation which involved him voting with every Democrat; think only America is responsible to take action, not other superpowers
-JUDGES: he joined forces with Democrats (Gang of 14) to block the Senate Republican’s attempt to confirm conservative, strict constructionist judges
-WAR ON TERROR: fought with Hillary Clinton to demand that terrorists be given a full American trial
-GAY MARRIAGE: he joined liberals to fight against a federal marriage amendment supporting the institution of traditional marriage
-CHRISTIANS: campaigning in 2000, he famously described Christian leaders as “agents of intolerance”
-PRO-LIFE: he filed an amicus brief against pro-life advocates in Wisconsin
-BI-PARTISANSHIP: he met with leading Democrats in 2004 to discuss the possibility of being John Kerry’s Vice-President
-PROFESSIONAL ETHICS: ringleader of the infamous Keating 5 ethical scandal which cost US tax payers $160 billion (Google it)
-PERSONAL ETHICS: McCain cheated on his first wife after she had a severe accident that left her partially disabled. He then divorced her and married his multi-millionaire mistress, whose daddy bought McCain a spot in the Congress

Endorsement by Rick Santorum

Today, former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) announced his endorsement of Governor Mitt Romney. Senator Santorum served two terms in the United States Senate where he was also Chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, the third-ranking member of the Republican leadership.

"In a few short days, Republicans from across this country will decide more than their party's nominee. They will decide the very future of our party and the conservative coalition that Ronald Reagan built. Conservatives can no longer afford to stand on the sidelines in this election, and Governor Romney is the candidate who will stand up for the conservative principles that we hold dear," said Senator Santorum. "Governor Romney has a deep understanding of the important issues confronting our country today, and he is the clear conservative candidate that can go into the general election with a united Republican party."

Santorum Served As U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania from 1995 To 2007 and as a member of the U.S. House Of Representatives From 1991 to 1995. As a Senator, he was a champion of efforts to counter the threat of radical Islam, to protect victims of religious persecution, and to promote democracy and religious liberty around the world. He founded the Congressional Working Group on Religious Freedom and spearheaded the passage of several key pieces of legislation, including the landmark welfare reform bill, the American Community Renewal Act, a ban on partial-birth abortion, the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, the Combating Autism Act, the Farmland Preservation Act, the Abandoned Mine Lands Reform Act, the Multi-Employer Pension Reform Act, the Global Aids Authorization Act, Health Savings Accounts, the Syria Accountability Act, and the Iran Freedom Support Act.

From 2001 to 2007, he served as Chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, where he directed the communications operations of Senate Republicans and was the third-ranking member of the Republican leadership.

Today, Senator Santorum is a Senior Fellow with The Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington, D.C. and is a contributor on Fox News Channel.

The truth is, Romney is and has always governed in a conservative way, despite what the media spin is. Look at his actual record. This is by far the most complete and exhaustive list of his actual conservative record. Please take the time to look at the issues that are important to you.

I'm jumping for joy here in Arkansas!! There is no reason for the Huckster to win here - people HATE him. Hopefully the Republican leadership can get out the vote for Romney and we can show the country what our opinion is of this so-called "Christian" leader. The biggest disappointment in all of this is that someone like Huckabee has taken crucial votes away from an honorable, intelligent, sincere candidate like Mitt Romney. Come on fellow Arkansans - stop the Huck - get out the vote for Romney!

I wonder if Huck has been campaigning or or out giving speeches to pay his mortgage.Hopefully the southern folks won't throw their votes away on this guy and vote Mitt instead!

Go Mitt! I am so excited you endorsed him. He has a true conservative agenda. Huckabee let us down as governor and I believe his liberal fiscal policy would let us down as President. Not only that, but he can't win. It is important to support the real conservative.

We the PEOPLE will endorse Mitt Romney to be the the next President of the United States of America!!!

It doesn't matter who endorsed McCain OR Huck whether they're big shots in Washington or influential or celebrities---this is our moment to let them know our voices is stronger than their screams. We want MITT ROMNEY!!! Let our voices be heard

This article proved to be exactly right. i.e., "The two man race for delegates in Arkansas will require that conservatives vote for Romney. Votes for Huckabee and Paul will serve only to reduce the votes needed by Romney to win over McCain"
Had more people followed this advice, we would not have split the conservative vote and we would have had a top quality and capable nominee with Romney.
