Oregon School Board: Teachers With Concealed Licenses Can Carry In Classrooms
Finally, sanity at one school district. They moved to protect their students or at least to send a clear message that they are willing to directly deal with lunatics or terrorists. Time for other school districts to take down the gun free zone signs and tell intruders that they will be faced by armed teachers if they seek to harm their students. Story follows:
by AWR Hawkins, Breitbart.com: The St. Helens School Board in Oregon lifted a ban that had prevented teachers with concealed carry permits from carrying their guns on campus.
School board chairman Marshall Porter said, “The current law in Oregon allows for anyone to concealed carry on school grounds. To exclude our staff seems like they’re being punished. They should have a right to protect themselves if they choose.”
According to ABC News, the decision impacts seven schools within the St. Helens School District. This includes “two elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, and three alternative schools.”
The school board voted four to one to allow teachers with concealed carry to keep their guns with them on campus. Porter said he voted in the majority because he has kids in these schools and if "something was to happen, and there's a chance that a teacher might be able to protect them, I'm fine with that."

If you can't trust a teacher with a firearm in the classroom then WHY IN THE HELL WOULD YOU TRUST THEM WITH YOUR KIDS...
Well, they are teachers. Teach our kids being armed is not a bad thing. Teach them not to be victims. Teach them guns are not evil but there are evil people. Teach them to not be afraid. Teach them proper gun safety and use. Teach them today so they don't have to learn tomorrow.
It's about time!! GUN FREE ZONES = FREE KILL ZONES!!!
I absolutely agree with arming teachers. THEY are the real "first responders" in any classroom situation.
Yes!!! You have about 5 to 7 minutes before police will show. If a shooter takes out a child every 15 sec, 4 a minute, 20 kids in 5. The teacher could save a child or two before, if not all before the police show. The children that are saved my be yours. The teacher (ex-marine) that gave his life to save his kids, may still be with us!!! SO YES!!!
Not too long ago, Guns use to b a class in school, kids brought their guns to school. Allowing teachers (and all law abiding citizens) to train and carry will help prevent crime and can save lives if they are attacked. Criminals read "gun free zones" as "happy hunting"
It is nice to see that some one in the country is using some common sense!
I wish all states would follow suit. Side note, that guy in the picture is fixing to shoot himself in the buttox.
Hope he does not shot his tail off. Safety is off and finger on trigger. Finger does NOT go into the trigger until weapon has cleared your body!
Obviously the author's picture did not consider this unless the person was in fact drawing their gun. CitizensLink never anticipated a bunch of NRA members would be seeing their article. Personally, I never could get a holster and gun to fit well on my hip/buttock area. Heck, after being stationed in Montana for three years, I became a fan of open carry :)
Actor with a stage gun.
