#SchoolChoice Success: HOPE Christian High School Achieves 3rd Consecutive Year of 100% College Acceptance
Bill Smith, Ph.D., Editor: I had the pleasure of touring Hope Christian Schools on November 8, 2013 - a school mentioned in previous articles here and here. Impressed is too mild a word for what I observed. As a retired professor and program director, I was noted the data of Hope CHS's last two graduating classes which had achieved "100% of students "accepted for college."
Almost unbelievable unless you have met these students and their teachers. Hope CHS has again reached a milestone of success for its students with its 3rd Consecutive Year of 100% College Acceptance for its graduating students. The lives of these graduates and the other students "regardless of zip codes or social economic background" have been and are being changed through principled, character building, measured and documented quality education. Education that was once out of reach for these Milwaukee inner city children until their parents were offered the "right to choose" the "school of their choice" for their children under School Choice established by the State of Wisconsin.
When I reviewed the previous graduates, I found a variety of colleges including Harvard and other top named universities in the list of colleges that had accepted Hope CHS graduates. Now, I'm looking forward to learning the names of the colleges and universities that these soon to be graduates have been accepted by and have agreed to attend. All will be identified at the "Senior Signing Day" event on Friday, May 30, 2014. Hint to all other schools - time to do this for your students!
The following press release is from Rotonda Smith and addresses Hope CHS' latest achievement.
Milwaukee, WI, March 6, 2014 – For the third consecutive year in a row, 100% of HOPE Christian High School’s graduating seniors have been accepted to college. The class of 34 students has received 200 letters of acceptance and more than $2,000,000 in academic scholarship offers.
"Time and time again, our scholars amaze us with their grit and determination to prove what is possible and this group of seniors is no different,” Principal Zach Verriden said.
“The class of 2014 has worked relentlessly to set the bar even higher at HOPE Christian High School. This group set a goal that they wanted to be the class to achieve 100% college acceptance the earliest in the school year and they did so by a long shot. How cool is it that our scholars aren't even paying attention to the goal of 100% college acceptance any more, but rather, who can get there the fastest?"
To celebrate this milestone, HOPE will hold their 2nd Annual Senior Signing Day event on Friday, May 30. Similar to the concept of Signing Day for athletes, HOPE seniors will announce where they have chosen to go to college in front of their families, peers, faculty, and community supporters.
HOPE Christian High School offers a comprehensive college prep program designed to ensure that all students who graduate are prepared to attend, and to be successful, in college. The program includes a curriculum aligned to the ACT College Readiness Standards, data driven academic results and college seminar courses. As a result of this rigorous preparation, the current seniors have also attained an average ACT score that outperforms the city, state and national African American averages.
Senior scholars at HOPE are proud to be a part of this record-making class and are grateful for the preparation that they have received at the high school. Here is what a few of the seniors had to say:“HOPE, as a team and family, has stood behind me, despite my mistakes. They’ve pushed me beyond the expectations that I’ve set for myself. Because of their support, I know that I will successful.” -Kenya Green.
“I am no longer scared to take on adversity. HOPE has given me a promising future.” - D’Jon Miller.
“HOPE has taught me to be proud of my uniqueness and individuality – and have showed me how to use my talents to better the world.” -Sierra Gilliam-Jones HOPE Christian High School is part of HOPE Christian Schools, a network of four schools serving more than 1,300 students in central-city Milwaukee. HOPE provides K4-12th grade students with a values-based education that develops their knowledge and cultivates their character -- the fundamental traits they need to become inspirations to their families, leaders in their communities, and successes in the workplace. ---------

This is the result of CHRISTIAN education and Christian families. It is an wonderful looking group of students with their suits and ties and matching sweaters. What curriculum do they use? ABEKA is one of my favorite curriculum.
Kathy, Hope CHS's curriculum is developed in house and they have fully credentialed teachers and more than exceed the required standards of Wisconsin. However, it is also their Christian focus and accountability and character building that builds the students a majority of whom are not Christians when they enter the school system. If you wish to know more about their curriculum, the point of contact email for the press release is identified in the article. I am sure she would welcome your email.
But be clear about this - private schools are not SAFE from Common Core! They must all remain vigilant in the fight against it, because the NWO "gov" wants every single school, public and private infiltrated with its disease. In fact, they don't want parochial schools to even exist anymore.
Teachers unions will be up in arms about this.
