Gov. Nikki Haley Confirmed as Ambassador to the U.N
ARRA News Service: Today at 5:31 PM (EST), the U.S. Senate by a vote of 96-4 confirmed Nikki Haley, Governor of South Carolina (R), to be the Ambassador of the United States of America to the United Nations in the Security Council and to the Sessions of the General Assembly.
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee had approved her nomination by voice vote earlier today.
Haley has declared her support for moving the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
After the confirmation vote, Gov. Nikki Haley and Lt. Gov Henry McMaster appeared at the South Carolina State House. Gov. Haley resigned and South Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice Don Beatty then swore in Henery McMasters as the new Governor of South Carolina.
Haley is due to be sworn in on Wednesday.
