Senate Confirms Mike Pomeo as CIA Director

At 9:15 PM (EST), Rep. Mike Pompeo has been sworn in as CIA director by Vice President Mike Pence.
Prior to swearing inas CIA Director, Pompeo represented Kansas’ Fourth Congressional District and serves on the House Intelligence Committee which oversees America’s intelligence-gathering efforts. He is a is a former active duty U.S. Army cavalry officer and served as a tank commander. He graduated first in his class from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and received his J.D. from Harvard Law School where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review.
When Pompeo was nominated by President Trump, he said, “I am honored to have been given this opportunity to serve and to work alongside President Trump to keep America safe. I also look forward to working with America’s intelligence warriors, who do so much to protect Americans each and every day.”
