Pro-Life American Generation Meeting VP Mike Pence
On stage with the Vice President |
We were privileged to be able to bring 13 Students for Life leaders to the White House to meet with Vice President Pence and Mrs. Pence for a private round table meeting.
At the meeting, students from as far as Alaska told Mike and Karen (as they insisted we call them) about the increased attacks on pro-life free speech and hostility we have faced on campuses this year as well as our strategy to bankrupt the Planned Parenthood brand right where they target, on campuses.
While I can’t reveal to you all that was said during this private meeting, I have to tell you about one thing the Vice President said.

I told him, “Sir, this is just a random sampling of our leaders. They are all like this and all over the country.”
But you know this. You represent the best student leaders in the country, of any issue or political persuasion.
After the 45 minute meeting, we followed the Vice President upstairs to a reception he was hosting for our nation’s pro-life leaders, since it was the eve of the March for Life.
What happened next surprised even me.
He called us on stage to stand next to him during this address. While on stage, I was holding Greyson, Maddi Runkles’ son.
Maddi as you will recall was the straight-A high school student who was banned from walking at graduation at her Christian school’s graduation. Because of your support, we helped to throw Maddi an alternative graduation at the local church and pitched in to give her a $16,000 college scholarship.

And here I was, standing next to the Vice President of the United States as he whispered how proud he was of me and holding a child that Planned Parenthood targeted for abortion (as girls like Maddi are their prime audience, telling them they can’t choose life and continue their education).
I simply have no words. When the Vice President told me he was “proud” of me, all I could think of were the tens of thousands of student pro-life leaders like you across this nation. That he wasn’t simply proud of me, that, including you for all that you allow us to do.
Included are a few pictures and a video from our time with the Vice President.
I hope this short note gives you hope today...that even in the highest offices in our nation, at the White House itself, the Pro-Life Generation is being heard loud and clear. And you are making a difference.
