Promise Fulfilled: Trump Nominates Brett Kavanaugh to U.S. Supreme Court
ARRA News Service: Tonight, President Donald Trump nominated D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court. This decision came after days of speculation and buzz around the list of finalists.
U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) released the following statement after President Donald Trump nominated Judge Brett Kavanaugh of the District of Columbia Federal Circuit Court to serve on the United States Supreme Court:
“Judge Kavanaugh is a distinguished jurist whose extensive experience and respect within the legal community make him uniquely qualified to serve on the Supreme Court. He has had an impressive legal career that the Senate recognized by confirming him with bipartisan support to the federal bench.
I encourage my colleagues to thoroughly consider this nomination. I look forward to a fair confirmation process and hearing more from Judge Kavanaugh about his judicial philosophy.” Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles, said:“Judge Kavanaugh has a long history of conservative, constitutionalist opinions from the bench,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “In 12 years on the bench with hundreds of decisions, he has expressed very strongly that the judiciary is to be restrained - reading and interpreting the laws and Constitution as written. He has frequently spoken against the overreach of supremacists judges finding ‘new rights’ in the Constitution and writing new laws from the bench.
“From all we know, Brett Kavanaugh will make an excellent justice on the Supreme Court. This choice is certainly another fulfillment of Trump’s promise to nominate judges in the mold of Scalia. In 2016, on the day she endorsed him, candidate Donald Trump promised Phyllis Schlafly that he would defend the conservative platform of the GOP and would nominate constitutionalist judges across the board. We are confident that this pick meets that promise and are excited for the Senate to move quickly on his confirmation.” Steven Ertelt publisher of LifeNews.com noted the following on "Pro-Life-Friendly Judge Brett Kavanaugh:"Kavanaugh has taken the pro-life side in important cases and has very strong pro-life Bona fides — prompting one leading pro-life attorney to say he would be an excellent addition to the Supreme Court.
Kavanaugh sits on the DC Circuit Court. . . . Kavanaugh worked as associate counsel to pro-life President George W. Bush and he came out of the era of Reagan judicial appointees. His rulings have been said to be more like Scalia than Kennedy, however.
Sarah Pitlyk, a former law clerk to Judge Kavanaugh and special counsel for the Thomas More Society, which is a leading pro-life legal group, says Kavanaugh has an excellent record and perhaps the best record of any of the finalists president Trump is considering. As she writes:
On the vital issues of protecting religious liberty and enforcing restrictions on abortion, no court-of-appeals judge in the nation has a stronger, more consistent record than Judge Brett Kavanaugh. On these issues, as on so many others, he has fought for his principles and stood firm against pressure. He would do the same on the Supreme Court. Newsmax reports:Ed Meese is a huge supporter.
Ed Meese, President Reagan’s Attorney General and one of his closest associates, has known Kavanaugh for decades and confirmed he has been a solid Reaganite as a judge.
“I know Brett Kavanaugh reasonably well and think highly of him,” Meese told Newsmax.
“He is a very able guy, an originalist who is faithful to the Constitution and believes in it.” Saul Anuzis, political commentator at saulsnews.com, provided the following facts on Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the ARRA News Service for our readers:

- Starting immediately after Justice Kennedy’s announcement that he was taking senior status, President Trump, the Vice President, and the White House Counsel met and spoke with numerous Senators—Republican and Democrat—over the past two weeks, seeking their advice.
- Dozens of Senators provided their advice. Many asked the President to pick a nominee who has impeccable credentials, a brilliant legal mind, and has exhibited integrity, humility, and a judicial temperament in his or her career.
