OVERALL STATE TAX COLLECTIONS TRENDING ABOVE FORECAST by Roby Brock?s BizBlog (9/5/06) : The bottom line result of last month?s figures puts the state's net $20.4 million above forecast during the current fiscal year. State revenue forecasters anticipate a $234.5 million surplus in the current fiscal year. Arkansas ended its last fiscal year on June 30th with a $402.7 million surplus. Why don't the Governor and legislature use some of these surplus funds to 1) give us a tax rebate or 2) use it to fund the schools and stop this bond extension amendment on the ballot this year?
Enough is enough - Arkansas government seems to be proving you really can "squeeze blood (taxes) out of a turnip (us with less money)."
