Former Enemy of the U.S. Details the Damage Done Defeatism
Reid Should Resign as Senate Majority Leader
By Bill Smith, ARRA Editor: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) spoke the following words of defeatism this week (4/20/07) at a news conference in Washington D.C. during a summit on the Iraq war: "I believe myself that the secretary of state, secretary of defense and - you have to make your own decisions as to what the president knows - (know) this war is lost and the surge is not accomplishing anything as indicated by the extreme violence in Iraq yesterday."
He and other defeatist today are aiding the enemy just as defeatist have done in the past as evidence by a statement by Col. Bui Tin, North Vietnamese Army who said; “The American antiwar movement was essential to our strategy …. Every day our leadership would listen to world news over the radio at 9 a.m. to follow the growth of the American antiwar movement …. America lost because of its democracy; through dissent and protest it lost the ability to mobilize a will to win.” [From: The American Legion's Resolution 169 booklet, Page 14. Note: Former Colonel Bui Tin served on the general staff of the North Vietnamese Army and received the unconditional surrender of South Vietnam on April 30, 1975. He became the editor of the People's Daily, the Official newspaper of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Disillusioned with the reality of Vietnamese communism Bui Tin now lives in Paris.]
Our enemies today are also tuning into the world news and following the anti-war movement and the defeatism by members of our Congress. Reid spoke his defeatist words as Senate Majority Leader after voting previously for funding and sending military to Iraq. Reid should resign immediately as Majority Leader of the Senate. He is not leading the Senate. Harry Reid is creating barriers to bipartisan actions in the Senate.
Input Just In -- April 23, 2005: Arkansas Federation of Republican Women (AFRW) Press Release: "Such dishonor of our military should not be excused or tolerated. Senator Reid should be held accountable for his words and should face the consequences of his cut and run position. Senator Reid’s comments comforts terrorists determined to kill our service men and women serving throughout the world. We ask all citizens to stand with our military and call for the immediate resignation of Senator Harry Reid, Democrat-Nevada, as Democratic Majority Leader in the United States Senate." President Anne Britton, AFRW

Fayetteville – The Arkansas Federation of Republican Women (AFRW) issued the following release on the statement made by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada).
On Thursday, April 19th, Senator Harry Reid made the following statement on the war in Iraq: "I believe myself that the Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense and - you have to make your own decisions as to what the President knows - (know) this war is lost and the surge is not accomplishing anything as indicated by the extreme violence in Iraq yesterday," said Reid (D-Nevada).
“Senator Reid’s statement that the “war is lost” is a statement to the terrorists around the globe that we have run up a white flag of defeat.” said Anne Britton, President of the AFRW and 2nd Vice Chair of the Republican Party of Arkansas. “The AFRW calls for the immediate resignation of Senator Reid as Senate Majority Chairman.” Britton continued, “It is disgraceful that the Democratic leader in the United States Senate would send a demoralizing message of defeat to our men and women in uniform serving bravely in Iraq and Afghanistan. I’m sure bin Laden is laughing in a cave somewhere.”
This is not the first time that Senator Reid has been tactless and careless in his statements on the war in Iraq. On April 3rd, Senator Reid responded to a question about the war with laughter:
Reporter: “If we pull out, will it leave the region in worse shape than it was it?”
Sen. Reid: “[Laughter]” (Sen. Harry Reid, Press Conference, 4/3/07)
Such dishonor of our military should not be excused or tolerated. Senator Reid should be held accountable for his words and should face the consequences of his cut and run position. Senator Reid’s comments comforts terrorists determined to kill our service men and women serving throughout the world.
We ask all citizens to stand with our military and call for the immediate resignation of Senator Harry Reid, Democrat-Nevada, as Democratic Majority Leader in the United States Senate.
