Boozman Applauds Senate Vote Sees new opportunity for plan which secures nation
U.S. Rep John Boozman (R-AR) today applauded the results of a cloture vote preventing the Senate Immigration Bill from a final vote on passage. The bill fell 14 votes shy of the 60 votes needed to invoke cloture and limit debate, a bipartisan group of 53 Senators voting against the motion.
“Today’s vote reflects the American people’s lack of confidence in the immigration plan offered by the Senate which was, at its foundation, a plan to give over 12 million illegal immigrants amnesty,” Boozman said. “Rewarding illegal behavior should never be the cornerstone of any plan, much less one which is supposed to lead to a more secure nation.” Earlier this week, Boozman joined a majority of House Republicans in passing a resolution which stated that the House GOP Conference disapproved of the Senate plan. “There are several opinions as to how we can adequately address the problem of illegal immigration in the United States,” Boozman said. “We all now have the opportunity to move forward and put together common-sense legislation which will secure our borders, keep employers accountable, and not grant amnesty to those who have broken the immigration laws of our nation.” [Source]Tags:amnesty, Arkansas, illegal immigrants, John Boozman, US Congress, US SenateTo share or post to your site, click on "Post Link".
