Eureka Springs becomes first city in Arkansas to register 'Gay Marriages'
by Don Wildmon, AFA: Eureka Springs has become the first city in Arkansas to allow homosexual couples to register as domestic partners. The City Council passed the ordinance unanimously, which basically is the equivalent of the city's leaders recognizing and forcing "gay marriage" on the city's residents. Eureka Springs is recognized as the home of "The Great Passion Play," America's #1 attended outdoor drama, but on May 14, ORDINANCE NO. 2052 - An Ordinance CREATING A DOMESTIC PARTNERSHIP REGISTRY, welcomed homosexuals into the city en mass as Arkansas' "Little San Francisco."
Pastor Philip Wilson of Eureka Springs' First Christian Church is leading an effort to get the ordinance overturned. Pastor Wilson said the mayor and city council made a moral decision for the entire city. Wilson twice helped gather signatures in an attempt to bring the issue to the voters, but the petitions failed after the city clerk claimed they lacked specific wording. "My sadness is Eureka Springs is being marketed more and more as a homosexual destination," Wilson explained.
Eureka Springs has opened the door for other Arkansas mayors and city councils to adopt similar ordinances recognizing the equivalent of same-sex marriage. Please contact Eureka Springs Mayor Dani Wilson and city council members. Politely ask them to repeal this ordinance. Let them know their Domestic Partnership Registry could destroy the Eureka Springs tourist trade and hurt the local economy. Many Christian families will no doubt reconsider their plans to visit Eureka Springs, or refuse to vacation in Eureka Springs. Incidentally, Branson has become very successful by marketing to families, not special interest groups such as homosexuals. E-Mail or call Dani Wilson, Mayor Eureka Springs 44 S. MainEureka Springs, AR 72632; Primary Phone: 479-253-9703 Fax: 479-253-6967. Also contact others on the Eurika Springs City Council and the Caroll County Judge and Qourum Court. I remember when "Republican" meant keeping government out of people's private lives. Now it seems to mean "Theocracy".
Since the passage of the DPR, (supported, incidentally, by an overwhelming majority of Eureka's population,) families have continued coming to our fair town. Contrary to warnings of the degradation of morality, (ie: homosexuals making out in every alley of Eureka} we find Christ's first and foremost Commandment, "Love God first, Love others as yourself" to be the pervasive morality infecting our visitors.
If the Republican Party wants to claim a moral highground, I would suggest concerning yourselves with obeying the Ten Commandments, immersing yourselves in the Love of Christ, and get politcally active in restoring the Constitution of the United States of America. God can take care of the rest.
It is a sad moment in our history when a Christian community falls to the immoral ways and the evil constitution of such a degenerate group of inhabitants as the likes of those who have infiltrated and are attempting to pollute what has always been considered a wholesome Christian community.
Let me say this to the Mayor and members of the city government of Eureka; You can be assured that if the governing members of Eureka does not change her course and stop this avalanche of evil, filth and corruption which has befallen this city by stopping the madness which has beset the community with the onslaught of homosexuality, you had better prepare yourself for what you are about to bring upon yourself.
God always used the armies of His chosen people to punish evil men for their sins, except for one instant.
It was God Himself, who demanding Righteous Judgment destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. God hates homosexuality and will not tolerate it.
God is a God of love, but He is also a of God Righteousness. His love never outweights his Righteousness.
Mayor and counsel men of Eureka, God will not be mocked, nor will He turn His head.
When God has warn someone, they have only one choice, obey God or perish.
Jesus gives a clear warning: "except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."
We "were" bringing 75 adults to E.S. in 08 but will now go to Branson instead. We will see if the gay travel group picks up the slack or not! I will not bring my friends or Family to a place that IS trying force the homosexual agenda in our face! We do not force or lifestyle on you! You are entiteled to your own choices but marriage is not what results from sex between two men! The human body was not designed for it as can be seen from the health problems that often occur! If the people of Eureka Springs want our money back they had better take back the city coucil! Goodbey!
I wanted to let you know that my wife and I elected to go to Branson, MO this year instead of Eureka Springs for our wedding anniversary, which we have been doing for many years, due to the approval of the Domestic Partnership Registry allowing gay and lesbian couples register as domestic partners. It is a sad day when Eureka Springs, known as a wholesome christian community, falls to the immoral ways of this group of people that mock God, His word, and His people. Your city's support of this measure is supporting what I feel is immoral and sin and I will not subject my family or support an economy that supports this type of behavior. God hates homosexuality (the sin, not the person) and because of this He destroyed Sodem and Gomorrah, found in God's word. I hope and pray that your community doesn't fall to the same wrath that has befallen so many other communities and businesses that have supported the homosexual agenda.
We chose to take a family vacation (4 adults and 2 kids) to Eureka Springs this past summer. This was our 7th trip. We chose a christian motel, visited christian attractions, ate at christian rest. and supported the christian businesses downtown. As usual we had a great time.
The christians in Eureka is suffering and trying to overcome this problem. If we do not support our fellow christians, they will fail and it will be our fault.
We stayed a week and not once did see any 'unnatural' show of affection. It was probably there, just not in the places we chose to go.
Branson is a great area for family vacation! Plenty of activities and entertainment for the whole family. The different Branson hotels are just as great too!
