How Arkansas US Senators Voted on the Immigration Bill
Sen. Blanche Lincoln voted Yes for cloture on the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2007, and Sen. Mark Pryor voted No. A vote for cloture can be seen as a vote for immediate amnesty for 12-20 million illegal aliens to get legal status for residence and jobs. The vote was 50 to 45 against the motion. Thus, it fell 15 short of carrying, since 60 votes were required under Senate rules. It is interesting that although both Arkansas Senators voted for the Senate Comprehensive Immigration Bill in 2006, Pryor agreed this time that further discussions and open review and discussions of amendments was needed. It appears that having won election, Sen. Lincoln doesn't care about what the majority of her constituents wish but is looking at the interests of special interest employers. However, Sen. Pryor may be listening closer to the voters and reflecting on his actions because he is up for re-election next year.
