Tancredo: Stop Birthright Citizenship
by Eunice Moscoso: GOP presidential candidate Rep. Tom Tancredo of Colorado announced immigration legislation Wednesday that would repeal birthright citizenship. The measure would require one parent to be a legal permanent resident or U.S. citizen before bestowing citizenship on a child born in the United States. Currently, U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants are automatic citizens. The legislation also makes voting in a foreign election a basis for potential loss of citizenship and limits the family categories for petitioning immigrant visas to spouses and minor children.
At a Capitol Hill press conference, Tancredo acknowledged that the bill would go nowhere in the current Congress, but said that he wants to keep the issue in the public eye. Tancredo also released a list of immigration laws that he says are not being enforced. “While we often hear administration officials say that they simply can’t enforce the law, the truth is they haven’t even tried,” he said. “It’s not that they can’t enforce the laws, it’s that they do not want to.” [Source]Tags:Birthright Citizenship Act, Colorado, immigration reform, presidential candidate, Tom Tancredo, US HouseTo share or post to your site, click on "Post Link". Mr Tancredo is 100% right on this issue. This is one of the many "MAGNETS" that must be stopped. Thank God we have a few candidates running for office with a commonsense approach to the problem. "This country must standup or it will fall down".
