Of course, the problem ultimately lies in the selection offered to Republican voters. Without a clear leader in the pack, and some who are obvious rejects, Republican voters are still sorting out which candidate will best represent them. This will be settled in the primary, and the winner will have the benefit of being THE candidate of choice for his party and having the subsequent support of his party to defeat the Democrat of choice. Right now, each of these candidates are struggling to separate themselves from the pack as the decisive leader, and the Republican voters are patiently waiting for someone to convince them that they are worth supporting. The real lesson here is that Republicans are serious voters who want a candidate who will stand up for Republican values and be worthy of Republican support. Hopefully, the candidates and the Republican party leadership are listening and taking notes.
