Constitution Day - Sept. 17th, 2006

Today, Sept. 17th, 2006, is Constitution Day. Federal law requires that all high schools, colleges and universities that receive federal funds hold an educational event about the Constitution on September 17. However, Congress didn't attach a penalty to the 2004 law requiring that schools observe Constitution Day. Unfortunately, many schools failed to do anything or carried out activities that in reality did not promote Constitution Day. See: Schools taking liberties with Constitution Day.
