He may be working hard, but not working smart, and that makes a world of difference.
Rather than impressing crowds and letting his message resonate UP, he has consistently attacked the media (even local media) for not simply handing over the airwaves and newsprint to him, JUST because he says he's a candidate.
The result has been that his anger has turned off many people in Iowa and New Hampshire and South Carolina, and party officials are not impressed. He's raised just a few thousand dollars after a LOT of hard work over the last 16 months of daily campaigning. One almost feels pity for him.
I'd like to say he's "just a nice man" but his legions of former staffers say otherwise. He's blown through four campaign managers already.
Instead, I have to report that he's a ruthless, angry, frustrated millionaire who is running on a lark, for fun. Though he's not having much fun, either, from the sound of it.
It's not enough to have a few good ideas (and he doesn't really have many, if you analyze exactly what he is saying) you have to be a credible candidate, too.
