Stop delaying passage of a critical veterans funding bill
Today concerned a member of the Arkansas delegation called on the House leadership to stop delaying passage of a critical veterans funding bill and earned bipartisan agreement. Rep. John Boozman (R-AR), a member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, made a statement during debate of H.Res. 237, legislation encouraging greater public support of the Veterans Day holiday which earned the agreement of Veterans Committee Chairman Bob Filner (D-CA).
During debate of H.Res. 237, Boozman said, “There is no better way to honor our veterans on Veterans Day then to ensure funding for their medical care and other benefits. That is why I call on my friends on the other side of aisle to appoint conferees for the military construction and VA appropriations bill. . . . We are almost a month into the new fiscal year and there is no practicable reason that this bill can not pass and become law. It won’t be long before this apparent political ploy will begin to affect the care our nation’s warriors receive.
