Senator Mark Pryor Introduces Version of "Save Act"
by Bill Smith, ARRA Editor: Senator Mark Pryor (D-AR), Mary Landrieu (D-LA) and David Vitter (R-LA) have introduced Senate versions (S.2368 and S. 2366) of the SAVE Act (Secure America with Verification Enforcement -H.R. 4088). Arkansas U.S. Representatives John Boozman (R), Marion Berry (D) and Mike Ross (D) have signed as cosponsors of H.R. 4088. In reviewing the list of co-sponsors it is evident that many in the U.S. Congress received the message sent by the American people in regard to the need for "real" actions to reduce illegal immigration.
ALthough the SAVE Act will not satisfy everyone, it is the middle-ground answer to the illegal immigration issue. This not only will be the most effective solution, but it is what polls show most Americans want. When given the choice among (a) mass roundups and mass deportations, (b) mass legalizations, and (c) Attrition Through Enforcement & Self Deportation, the public chooses the middle-ground Attrition option which is what these bills offers.
The SAVE Act would increase our border security and help with interior enforcement. Our greatest excitement is in the promise of finally protecting American workers, legal foreign workers and law-abiding businesses from the unfair competition of massive hiring of illegal workers throughout our economy. And by requiring every worker to be run through the E-Verify system within four years, the SAVE Act would greatly reduce the opportunities for national origin-based discrimination.
Senator Pryor, thank you for sponsoring the SAVE Act and taking a leadership role on this issue! Leadership is obviously lacking at the top in the current US Congress. Current congressional leaders appear inept and have failed to grasp the concerns by the "majority" of the American citizens. This is very evident by their low polling numbers.
Also, thank you Rep.s Boozman, Berry and Ross for you signing on as co-sponsors of the House version of the SAVE Act. Your sponsorship identifies that you know that a majority of Arkansans are concerned about how massive flows of foreign labor have allowed unscrupulous businesses to squeeze American workers out of their livelihoods.
Now, where are Sen. Blanche Lincoln and Rep. Vic Snyder in regard to increasing border security and assisting with interior enforcement? For the moment at least - they are out to lunch!

I've contacted my elected representativesm and urged them support the SAVE Act. I believe the country needs this legislation. The American people want to take our country back.
Contact yr elected reps. today.
Well, maybe Monday.
Just a few of the features of this Bill include:
8000 more Border Patrol agents
More Judges, courts, and detention centers.
Border fencing and vehicle barriers (where needed), and all-weather surveillance roads in conjunction with high tech surveillance equipment including satellite surveillance, infra red, and seismic detection. It requires construction along the border to take into account environmental and private land use needs.
Requires development of a national strategy to secure the borders and all ports of entry to the United States by December 31, 2010.
This Bill even has accountable and transparent financing of the effort built into it giving power of oversight to the Comptroller and Inspector Generals to keep Congress appraised.
This bill is going to receive some stiff opposition from organizations like LULAC and LaRaza, and incumbent Democrats beholding to the illegal immigrant population communities, and incumbent Republicans beholding to employers pressing for cheap illegal labor. They will try to fight this Bill. This SAVE Act offers the Independent voters in America the first real opportunity to flex their newfound muscle by supporting this Bill and pressing their representatives to vote for this legislation.
Call your congressman today and ask him / her to co-sponsor the Save Act HR 4088.
Let’s take our country back !
Bill,
Senator Lincoln is probably waiting to see what the other Dems tell her to think. I have yet to call her office and get an answer on ANYTHING!
She's been "out to lunch" for years and I do wish we could find one good candidate to run against her...
I usually do not agree with Mike Ross, but at least he's making an attempt this time! Sen. Pryor has been great on issues of illegal immigration and trucking...
I wish Lincoln would take some time to visit Warren to see what the impact of her non-action with regard to immigration has done to our town. It's shameful.
