Virginia GOP Primary Voters Must Sign Loyalty Oath
Update: GOP in Virginia abandons loyalty pledge!
On Monday, the Virgina State Board of Elections approved a Virginia Republican Party request for people wishing to vote in the state's presidential primary. The new policy requires that 2008 GOP primary voters sign an oath of loyalty to vote for the Republican presidential nominee next fall. Because voters in Virginia do not register by party, the oath was a concept desired by the Virginia's GOP. Obviously it will have to be self-enforcing oath because there is no practical way to enforce the GOP covenant in the constitutionally guaranteed secrecy of the voting booth.
