Feb. 4, Last Day to File as AR Delegate to GOP National Convention

With the 2008 presidential primary season in full swing, the Republican National Convention is just around the corner. If you want to serve as a delegate representing Arkansas at the Republican National Convention, Monday, Feb. 4, is the last day to file as an Arkansas Republican delegate.

A.J. Kelly, Second District GOP Chairman, tells you how:
1. You must sign up and pay your filing fee ($125) no later than February 4 at Republican Party of Arkansas headquarters.
2. You must choose your candidate BEFORE the primary, when you sign up.
Your candidate must QUALIFY for a delegate by winning at least 10 percent of the vote.
3. Three delegates and three alternate delegates will be elected on May 3, 2008, at District Conventions.
4. All remaining delegates will be elected at the state committee meeting in June.
5. To be elected as a delegate, you need to garner sufficient support to win an election of your own at the district or state level (and your candidate must qualify to win delegates at those elections).
