Huckabee Says He Can Still Win

CBS News' Joy Lin: Just because John McCain has 700 of the 1,191 delegates needed to get the Republican nomination - and Mike Huckabee only has 163 - Huckabee says there are many reasons why it's still realistic for him to get the nomination. "Let's say we get to the convention and [Mitt] Romney releases his [158] delegates. They can come towards me. There's also a lot of factors that can happen. . . . The one thing -- I know -- isn't it a very complicated process for you to win? The answer is yes. But, you know, it's a very simple way to lose. I can just quit. I've spent my whole life fighting from the bottom. I've never been at the top. I've always started from the bottom. I know what its like to be the underdog. I still believe in the impossible. If I didn't, I wouldn't be in this race." "Six months ago, would any of you here said the two guys still on his feet in February be Mike Huckabee and John McCain?" . . . [Read More]

Mike Huckabee has the most executive experience of any candidate running. He was re-elected Governor of Arkansas until his term limits expired. He was their Lt. Governor prior to that. He was voted one of the Best Five Governors in America by Time Magazine. He is the best communicator since Ronald Reagan. Mike Huckabee is for real and he is authentic!

It''s going to be real funny when Hickabigot stays in the race, only to get less delegates than Romney now has. I will vote for McDipshit but if Huckabee is anywhere near the ticket, I will vote for Obama. Even Hillary. Anybody but the freaking bigot, the Huckster.

It is time for Huckabee to pack his bags and go home. He’s never really had a solid platform. We know, he stands for adjusting the constitution to be more evangelical and we know he stands for Fair Tax. He is socially conservative, moderate to liberal on economics, and inexperienced on foreign affairs. But, he has played his spoiler role well and it is time for him to bow out before he loses all credibility.

I wish him well in his other endeavors.

Mike Huckabee can still win the way George Washington won the Revolutionary War, by not losing long enough for circumstances to change. He needs to win just enough delegates to keep McCain from winning the nomination before the convention.

Is this really a republican site? I don't understand the anger coming towards Mike Huckabee. Alot of people, including many so called republican have arrogantly dismissed the christian conserative voters. John McCain while an impressive war hero has always confused me, i never understood why he claimed to be a republican when he sounded just like a democrat. Romney might have been very consertative but I will not vote for someone who's religion tries dethrone our Lord Jesus Christ with a mere man of the 1800's. I like Mike Huckabee and I hope he stays in for as long as he can. To me he's the only one upholds the values and freedom that I thought were upheld by the republican party. People can make fun of other christian consertatives all the they want but if others feel like me then it won't matter if they do, it won't change how we vote. And if we end up with a democrat in the white house then I don't think it will matter, because for all intense purposes, John McCain is one as well.

Anonymous asks if this is really a Republican site because we have not endorsed Huckabee. The person then goes on to identify that they are a Christian Conservative. Well it is clear they have not read through our site.

It is interesting that most of our posts address the conservative viewpoint and we would hope that the readers would have read the myriad of reasons set forth as to why we did not endorse former Gov. Mike Huckabee. But appears the commenter has taken the easy road and just listened to the candidate instead of examining the facts.

We also call the attention to the person that we also did not endorse John McCain. In addition we note that it was Christian conservatives (maybe not Republicans) that put Jimmy Carter in the White House. And according to this commenter, they are willing to put a Democrat again in the White House rather than vote Republican.

Although we advocate for traditional family values as well as for Republican principles, we in no way believe that just because someone claims to be a better Christian than another -- or an evangelical - then that qualifies them to be the best candidate.

Also, while we have called out various aspects of Huckabee's and McCain's past actions on issues as potential indicators of what they may do in the future, we still wish the best for them if they are the person selected for the nomination.

As we said before, we vote Republican! Unlike the previous commenter, we won't stick our head in the sand and abandon our vote to a Democrat candidate who represents the party of pro-abortion, pro-homosexual platforms, universal healthcare, open borders, taxing the middle class, and weakened national defense.

Perhaps offense was taken where none was meant. I did not mean to say that this site was non republican but that the bloggers didn't sound like republicans. There has been so much anger toward Huckabee for staying in and I don't understand this. I think alot of people have assumed that if Huckabee hadn't ran, everyone would have just instead voted for Romney. While I can not speak for everyone I can say that for me this is not true for the reasons i stated earlier. Why would Huckabee be called a biggot? Because he's too "christian or politically incorrect". This only makes me like him more. It is this arrogant dismissal for him that I think ironically helps him. It was as if after McCain started gaining ground, many republicans threw there hands up in anger for anyone still hanging on to Huckabee. I have some close freinds and neighbors that had been drastically effected by illegal imigration. One had to close a steel business because they employed american citizens instead of illegal immigrants. They could not compete against there cheap prices. I had another set of freinds how were not only fired from their jobs but then had to agree to train the illegal imigrants for the very job they used to do in order to receive there six months of pay? Do other republicans really think that my freinds and family who i speak of will really support John Mccain who wanted to offer amnesty to the people that took their jobs? It was just so short sited on the side of many people to think they would. And though not politically correct, they also should have understood that a mormon would not be able to hold the base of a group of people claiming christ. So now we have John McCain. I respect him as a war heroe but do not respect stem cell research that takes from little babies started out only to be killed for the case of research. It leaves people like me in a truly unlikably place. I do not want Hillary for president either or barack but I will have to search my heart for the right thing to do. And just because i am having a hard time with it like a lot of christians doesn't mean I am sticking my head in the sand. It is a difficult thing to have to vote for a man that i am just not sure will uphold the things I believe in. But for right now, I am glad Huckabee hasn't quit, if for nothing else than he's giving a voice to someone like me.

Thank you for posting again. Remember you can just enter your first name, "nickname" or "handle" and we still will not have your email.

Anyway, your last comment had a lot of good points. I think for Christians the best thing is to pray! Also, there is no need for Gov. Huckabee to remove himself from the race just because Sen. McCain appears to be the "presumptive" nominee. His staying in the race will either help himself if there is a change by the time of the convention or even help McCain if there is no change by 1) keeping McCain's name in the news and 2) allowing McCain to clarify his positions.

McCain's prior position on a bill which would have granted amnesty to illegal aliens is something we did not like. However, we also did not like Huckabee's position on illegal aliens while Governor which was very much in line with McCain's position. Unfortunately, we no longer have a strong candidate who's past actions on illegal immigration that we feel comfortable with.

However, after Obama speech in Virginia, we know we can not rely on him to solve this issue. With Clinton or Obama, we will have open borders.

As I said before, Christians had best be praying not only for the future leaders of our country but also for guidance for their own lives as they are forced to face circumstances supported by the government that do not align with their Biblical beliefs.

I have a question to all that has not been mentioned here as of yet. I would like to know how Christian men and women can vote for pro-abortion candidates. I heard on FOX news earlier that in Wisconsin, Obama was doing well in some predominantly Catholic areas. Obama is the worst offender when considering his pro-abortion voting record, followed by Hillary. Someone explain how a Christian can be pro-abortion. If self described Christians just voted on this single issue we could have a Republican President in 2009.
