Oil & Technology that Environmentalists Don't Want You to Know About
It is time to dust off a relevant March 6, 1997 editorial: "World has more oil than far left environmentalists admit." Did the environmentalist and liberal democrats in Congress think that we would not remember or note that the technology exists to exact more oil from former U.S. wells? No wonder they would also like to control the flow of information on the Internet, talk radio and between elected representatives and their constituents.
Bill Smith, ARRA Editor: Far-left environmentalists claim that the World Oil reserves are running out. However, reported new discoveries, advanced technology and untapped oil reserves (save the caribou program) prove they are again expressing fiction. In a left leaning biased New York Times article the truth "gushes out. the article, Oil Innovations Pump New Life Into Old Wells , revealed that "engineers here started injecting high-pressured steam to pump out more oil. The field, whose production had slumped to 10,000 barrels a day in the 1960s, now has a daily output of 85,000 barrels. In Indonesia, Chevron has applied the same technology to the giant Duri oil field, discovered in 1941, boosting production there to more than 200,000 barrels a day, up from 65,000 barrels in the mid-1980s. ... Within the last decade, technology advances have made it possible to unlock more oil from old fields, and, at the same time, higher oil prices have made it economical for companies to go after reserves that are harder to reach. With plenty of oil still left in familiar locations, forecasts that the world’s reserves are drying out have given way to predictions that more oil can be found than ever before." And this technology can be applied to American oil fileds when the extraction of oil slows down in the Arab oil fields (figure at right).

"The four giant oil fields ... located under thousands of feet of water off the coast of Louisiana, are just beginning to pump their first barrels. At their peak rates later in the decade, they'll produce some 500,000 bbl. per day, an amount akin to floating a small Middle Eastern country such as Syria or Yemen into the Gulf of Mexico. "Add them together, and it's a massive step change," says David Eyton, BP's vice-president for deepwater in the Gulf. "The investment we're making will more than offset declines we're seeing in Alaska and the Continental Shelf."And we have not even detailed the oil fields where the left-wing don't want us to drill. Well excuse us and get out of the way!

Bear in mind that Blanche Lincoln, today, had hinted at the idea that we may see some offshore drilling before long.
More significantly, "Party Line" Pryor has been hinting at the same thing. When he starts inching toward Republican ideas, that's a pretty good sign the Democrats are fixing to shift.
Drilling could well be on the way...
Straight-shooting real estate
These people are complaing about drilling like the Exxon Valdez happened yesterday.
Technology, people. The technology has progressed and it is time to progress with it.
Not only has to technology to protect the environment while drilling improved, the rules and regulations have improved too. But of course they would rather have China and Mexico drilling off our shores, those countries could care less about polluting our waters. They pollute, the enviro types use it for proof postive drilling is bad.
Affordable energy is crucial to a good economy, when The democrats want to block drilling measures, they are denying Americans good jobs and economic growth. They claim that we need to focus on alternative energy, but many of those ideas are far from being able to power jets, trains, or the heavy trucks that are used for commerce daily. By blocking drilling, money that could be injected into the U.S. economy, is given to foreign powers and companies like Citgo, or Saudi Armaco, that are not publically traded and they don't even allow investors to be part of the action. To allow American Oil companies access to resources here, not only will 401k's and Ira's be given a boost, but jobs will be created.
All this aside, the democrats are fooling themselves thinking that, the day Obama takes office we will be able to use new techology and ignore oil.
Oil and natural gas is what people use to heat their homes and drive their cars TODAY. A good energy plan will incorporate every aspect of all energy available it might call for increases like.
10% increase in solar
10% increase in wind power
10% increase in hydroelectric
10% increase in nuclear power
10% increase in ethanol
10% increase in biodiesel
10% increase in electric cars
10% increase in offshore drilling
I think the democrats blocking drilling, is an attempt to keep energy costs murderously high and crippling the American families. If you come to Detroit for the Woodward cruise and watch the parade of classic cars, you will be reminded of a time when low energy costs allowed prosperity and cars were fun.
The democrats are denying the government a chance to cash in on royalties from drilling on Federal Lands, They are denying U.S companies a chance to provide good jobs to people, But the worst thing is they are hurting families that need to heat their homes and fuel their cars by not allowing American companies to increase the supply of oil. If the technology the democrats claim will make oil obsolete is so near, why not make use of the oil we have before there is no value to it.
The Left leaders know that we need to drill and can do so safely and efficiently. It's not on their agenda because it shows the stupidity of their past voting records.
The democrats refusing to allow drilling really proves they are just heartless monsters that want to enslave the people with high energy costs. I'm telling you the truth I'm still paying off last winters heating bill. I'm up over my head in credit card debt. I can't tap into the equity of my home because it has lost 40% of its value.
John McCain could show his ability to compromise by offering a bill that lets the democrats try their plan and the Republicans use their plans to bring down prices. To provide relief to the people, maybe the democrats are more concern with their tax money for roadwork and construction. What you could do maybe, change the tax from one that looks like this
$1.00 a gallon = .06 tax
$2.00 a gallon = .12 tax
$3.00 a gallon = .18 tax
$4.00 a gallon = .24 tax
you could change the tax so they still get their .24 tax by increasing volume and drilling you could put that same tax on cheaper gas.
$1.00 a gallon = .24 tax
$2.00 a gallon = .24 tax
$3.00 a gallon = .24 tax
