ICE Arrests 1,759 in 53 Cities

ICE arrested 1,759 gang members, associates, criminals and immigration violators in a four-month Operation Community Shield operation that targeted violent street gangs and criminal associates in 53 cities across 28 states. Of those arrested, nearly 1,500 were gang members, associates or those otherwise criminally charged. Operation Community Shield uses immigration and customs authorities to target transnational violent street gangs. "By partnering with other law enforcement agencies across the country, we are successfully targeting these gangs, arresting their leaders, disrupting their operations, and putting their members and associates behind bars," said Assistant Secretary Julie L.
