Sen. Saxby Chambliss Wins GA Runoff
With 96% of Georgia's precincts reporting in the runoff election, Sen. Saxby Chambliss with 57.5% of the vote, returns to the U.S. Senate by defeating Democratic challenger, Jim Martin. The win ended the Democratic hopes for a 60-vote majority in the Senate that would make it difficult for Republicans to filibuster in the Senate. The Democrats had hoped to bypass Republicans elected to office and to implement their agenda without considering the position of the minority party, in this case the Republicans.
Chambliss, age65, campaigned as a pro-business conservative and on the principle platform of limiting President-elect Obama’s ability to pass legislation in a Democratic-controlled Congress. Calling himself the “41st senator,” Chambliss told a cheering crowd of supporters in his victory speech that the runoff was the first race of 2010, signaling a new wind for Republicans: “You have delivered tonight a strong message to the world that conservative Georgia values matter. You have delivered a message that a balance of government in Washington is necessary, and that’s not only what the people of Georgia want but what the people of America want.”

if the leftist illuminati was going to have Ludacris as a campaign spokesperson, I am so glad they lost, if for no other reason.
Dear Dr. Bill,
Our Party won a great victory yesterday in the runoff U.S. Senate race in Georgia thanks to your generous support. We couldn't have done it without you on our team. Saxby Chambliss' re-election sends a strong message to Washington, D.C., that unchecked power will not be accepted.
This victory is also the first step in our efforts to rebuild our Party from the grassroots up. As we begin preparations for the 2009 state and critical 2010 Congressional elections, the RNC will continue to count on the active input and financial assistance of supporters like you.
Again, thank you for your steadfast dedication to our Party and our cause. The win in the Georgia Senate runoff is your victory -- YOU are the Republican Party. I look forward to working with you in the year ahead to elect more Republicans committed to our commonsense, conservative agenda for America.
Sincerely,
Robert M. "Mike" Duncan
Chairman, Republican National Committee
