Way to rule innocent men
"There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one "makes" them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted -- and you create a nation of law-breakers-and then you cash in on the guilt." (Ayn Rand, "Atlas Shrugged")
To quote Stephen Banta, "The most potent weapon in the hands of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed." If we have your attention, read The Battle for Your Mind by David Ruben: We are at war. The battlefield is your mind. There is one objective: Gain access to, convert, and control your thinking. Everyday, in the name of diversity and tolerance humanists, anti-religious fanatics, Immoral, psychopathic and God hating change-agents erode and systematically undermine the moral fabric of America. . . .

This is a very childish article that boils everything down to an infantile "us vs. them" scenario. Limiting the choices to either/or---either you believe everything exactly as I do or you are my enemy---is utter nonsense with no basis in reality. The bad guys in this scenario include "neo-commie liberals" (the author doesn't bother to define the term), "humanists, anti-religious fanatics, immoral, psychopathic and God hating change-agents." In other words, virtually anyone who doesn't agree with the author's very narrow world construct.
The author quotes Ayn Rand: "The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one 'makes' them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws."
Is this not the very strategy used by organized Christianity to keep everyone in line? Does the Church not in fact make the "straight and narrow" road so straight and narrow that nobody can possibly walk on it? Isn't it actually the Church that is "cashing in on all the guilt?"
If the extreme of liberalism is socialism or communism, then the extreme of conservatism is fascism.
A study conducted in 2003 identified the social and political agendas common to five fascist regimes: Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia), and Pinochet (Chile) yielded this list of 14 identifying characteristics of fascism.
1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism
2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights
3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause
4. Supremacy of the Military
5. Rampant Sexism
6. Controlled Mass Media
7. Obsession with National Security
8. Religion and Government are Intertwined
9. Corporate Power is Protected
10. Labor Power is Suppressed
11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts
12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment
13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption
14. Fraudulent Elections
Is this not the very description of ultra-conservatism? Is this not, in fact, a description of the Bush administration's policies?
