Marion Berry - No Blue Dog - Lap Dog for Speaker Pelosi
Update 5/6: Click for mp3 Radio Ad by the NRCC
Bill Smith, ARRA Editor: Rep. Marion Berry tries to cover his tracks when he is back home in Arkansas claiming that he is a farmer interested in agriculture in the 1st District. But as evidence has proven in the past, the only interest Berry has in agriculture is lining his own pockets with farm subsidy money. When he is home, he knows his district did not vote for Barack Obama. Sources have advised that Berry takes a few liberties and casts dispersions against Obama. But when he returns to Congress, he drops the agriculture label and is identified as a pharmacist. He doesn't want to be considered a "hay seed" in Congress with his liberal colleagues. He also turns tail and praises Barack Obama and rejoins the fold not as a Blue Dog but as a lap dog of Speaker Pelosi.
A contact at the National Republican Campaign Committee (NRCC) has advised that they have noted Berry's antics in Washington and also the growing conservative base in Arkansas 1st Congressional District. Tomorrow, the NRCC will be releasing an ad addressing Congressman Berry. Berry will definitely have competition in 2010 from the republicans. One candidate, Rick Crawford, has already announced he will challenge Berry. I will report more about Rick Crawford in the near future.

Just read your article about Rep. Marion Berry with great interest! It jogged my memory that I heard this being discussed at the Republican Women’s meeting too, but I didn’t hear about Rick Crawford challenging Berry! That is great news! I look forward to future articles and information about this man. I have always contended that “blue dog” Democrats do not have the power people think they do because they end up going along with the Pelosi machine. This is the PERFECT opportunity for Republicans to draw sharp contrasts between themselves and even “blue dogs” and actually win next time! YAY!
Thanks for the heads up Bill! I'm a 1st District voter that would love to see Berry gone!
Berry's responses to my many requests for voting for or against bills is always the same. His "canned" reply is "I voted for what is best for you". His record of voting the way I would have him vote is almost 100% negative. He votes in lockstep with Pelosi and Reid! Lets elect a Representative who truly represents First Congressional District.
Rick Crawford spoke to our county committee this past week. He will be a great Representative. In order to make this "change" happen, we have to support him beginning NOW.
Thanks for helping to get the word out. I am in the 1st District and have been very frustrated with Barry's betrayal of our values and views here. It is good news that we will be getting a positive alternative voice running against him.
His cowardly tendencies were recently recorded in the House Roll Call vote for HR1913-The Hate Crimes Bill that will give pedophiles protected status under the "sexual orientation" clause in the bill. He Abstained. There was an amendment proposed by the Republicans to make sure that pedophilia and other aberrant sexual behaviors would not be protected in this bill. The Dems voted it down and passed the bill with the special class for all aberrant sexual behaviors. This guy's got to go!!!!

Recently Jim D RESPOND to us about change, he also refered to Stone County.
Being new in Arkansas the last almost 4 years I noticed a very large, large, large list of forfits. No one runs for office.
We have been a none resident or part time land owner since 1964.
We have an out of control drug problem and most felons are armed.
We need change like Jim D SAID.
If h is right what can the Republicans do to get a new prosecutor, sheriff, and Judges that Daddy is not at the Appeals Court???
To answer a question that will be asked, why were we none resident,It
is jobs, jobs, jobs, and drugs, drugs, drugs are the answer for the young generation.
They grow it in the woods, they brew it in their parents kitchens,
and the dealers cook it on their
heating stoves which belch smoke like the old steam locomotives.

I am glad to hear that there is someone who will run against Berry. He is definitely a lapdog for Pelosi and does not have the fortitude to stand up for the values and principles of Arkansans. This came to light last year when I called his office during the oil crisis to ask if he supported drilling in ANWR and off shore, the response was "no". I also called his office regarding the bailout fiasco, the "pork barrel" stimulus bill, and the omnibus budget proposal to let him know that I was against all this insane spending. His office told me they would let him know how I felt. I guess my concerns fell on deaf ears. Evidently, I am just a stupid taxpayer who has lived by the rules and lived within my means and does not deserve to be heard like so many other frustrated taxpayers.
Berry has become useless, if indeed he ever has had his constituents values at heart. I have never ever trusted him, and I think it is high time we send him back to pushing pills! He is not a good representative of the fine folks of the First District!
