Americans Afraid of Government Run Health Care
Bill Smith, ARRA Editor: If the media was reporting the truth - it would have the following headline: "Americans Afraid of Government Health Care." With the rising outcry by the public, even Democrats are now concerned with the number of their constituents saying hold it -- we can't afford any more debt and why should we trust the government to interfere with and or run private health care. President Obama, Sen. Harry Reid and Speaker Nancy Pelosi wished to push through national health care quickly. Now they are concerned the delay will allow the truth to be shared.
One major truth is that the majority of Americans fear the government running anything including their private health care. However, many individuals felt alone in their feeling that things were amiss -- after all President Obama continues to hold press conferences demanding that they cooperate and that health care must be changed right now! This same pattern has been previously used with respect to global warming (cap-in-trade), the failed stimulus, and bailing out the banks and auto industry. Everything had to be done quickly without even elected congressional representatives and Senators reading the bills. Unfortunately, Reid and Pelosi are denying almost 40% of the U.S. Senators and 41% of Representatives input to the legislative process other than voting.
However, with the delay in passage of health care, groups representing the viewpoints of the majority of Americans are getting the word out in spite of the delay in the truth by government influenced media. As an example, consider the CATO Institute which will be releasing an advertising campaign to highlight the under-reported poll data by the media which has really shown that majority of Americans are concerned that current health care reform plans will raise costs, limit choice and reduce the quality of their health care.
Health care reform is needed. However, reforms that increase the role of government and an already massive federal budget deficit – as many proposals would – are bad medicine. The Cato Institute is undertaking nationwide outreach on how free-market reforms, increased consumer choice, and energized competition – not more government control – improve health care's quality and affordability. This includes outreach through national newspapers and radio stations, and a new web site of key resources. Below is part of the proposed ad:

Your New Doctor?
What really matters is who decides. Under reform proposals before Congress, government would take over more and more of your health care decisions. Whatever it’s called—socialized medicine . . . government-run health care . . . "a public plan". . . individual & employer mandates — it's bad medicine.
In a recent national survey* 4 out of 5 Americans were concerned that government run health care would:
There is a better, uniquely American solution: freedom. Freedom to choose your doctor and health plan. Freedom to spend your health care dollars as you choose. Freedom to make your own medical decisions. Freedom to keep a health plan you are satisfied with. View Cato's full page health care reform ad
- REDUCE HEALTH CARE QUALITY
- INCREASE COSTS
- LIMIT CHOICES OF DOCTORS
- INCREASE THE FEDERAL DEFICIT

It tends to make a lot of good people despondent and at the least susceptible, when they read, watch and listen to the maverick storm of media ads, thumping down President Obama's health care initiative? Much of the rambling artifacts are the Simon and Lois ads of the Clinton administration, heavily armed against any revisions in this issue that wealthy insurance companies and subsidiaries won’t tolerate.
They insulted the senior citizens with their propaganda and bald faced lies about the European government run health care system. Being originally an Englishman myself, I guarantee in the 1960's, we had a unique form of medical services, inclusive of eye and teeth. It did plummet down somewhat, when business starting recruiting foreign labor from the commonwealth and Northern Europe. Many were out for a free financial ride and got it, along with their large families that British citizens have to support with their limited pounds sterling.
Just as the anti-governmental health care extremists have been pounding the airwaves, the open border, globalist is now subjecting the American people to a torrent of inflaming immigration polls. But like all polls they can be intentional manipulated, in exactly how the questions are worded? Sure they can keep their co-pays, deductibles and pre-existing small-print clauses, squeezing every penny from a hurting economy, but tell the--BLOODY TRUTH!
It's a sad fact that you cannot trust the Liberal slant regarding this searing problem, although not all Liberals are favorable to another AMNESTY? The Democratic leadership, hiding liberal views behind closed drapes tried to annihilate any good, workable illegal immigration enforcement laws. In an earlier session of the Senate an error was made with E-Verify, so it's was fortunate to survive Sen. Reid and Pelosi’s notion? Anything that has an impact on removing illegal immigrants is intercepted by business oriented free traders.
GOOGLE---illegal immigration--to find out their sinister intention, to just throw open the gates, ports and airline entrances to cheap labor, that also become the downfall of the European Union. the polling I have seen has been calculatedly --ENGINEERED--to get results, that they can brandish around, declaring the majority of Americans believe in a path to citizenship and open borders? Already the Democrats are ready to flag the Save Act, 287(g) local police enforcement to weaken these laws.
Currently both issues have heavy fallout, and you the voter should let your Senator or Representative know your opinion on either matter at 202-224-3121---BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE. Both have massive consequences in costs and quality of life in your future and generations to come.WE MUST SAY NO AMNESTY! SEAL OUR BORDERS AND NO MORE FREEBIES TO ILLEGAL ALIENS. THEY ARE THE CRIMINALS, NOT AMERICANS WHO SACRIFICE TAXES? GOOGLE--NUMBERSUSA for details our government and the media have a nefarious talent, for keeping facts under wraps?
The nefarious intent here is to gain unprecidented control over a large portion of our economy! We know with certainty already that one of the bills contains language that would ban anyone from seeking a new private insurance plan after a certain time frame. There are videos circulating in which the POTUS and others admit that this is a single payer plan, and it will be achieved incrementally. The private isurance companies will be put out of business by attrition, leaving us all at the tender mercies of the government.
Also, we know that abortion will be covered, leaving many Americans with the unconscionable notion of their own tax dollars being used to kill babies.
We know that rationing and long waits are part and parcel of other single payer plans. There are documented cases of governement bureacrats denying life-estending or life-saving medications to patients. We also know that many from these other countries come here to get the life saving treatment that they cannot receive at home.
Will we continue to beat the drum until this is defeated? ABSOLUTELY! Our backs are against the wall. Should this pass, it will create a unconstitutional dividion of government so vast and so powerful, that it will be impossible to rid ourselves of it. If we do not go "all in" now, we lose on this issue, and many Americans may exprerience loss of quality of life or even death.
Damn right we are!
It's not REFORM- it's welfare.
It's not welfare its a wait in line, but only people on welfare have the time, so you are right.
I am so glad that the ARGOP Heath Care Action Center is now live. :) Now we have a voice, and there's a reason why we are scared. I learned in my grad class the other day that avg. health care cost a company pays for one person is 26% of their salary. If the government is only going to charge 8% penalty for not providing healthcare, then why wouldn't business drop employees healthcare and make them get the governments. You do the math. If you were a business would you rather pay 8% or 26%. It's scary!
The bottom line is that everyone in American should have healthcare and good schooling. Due to corporations - we DO NOT.
Healthcare & Schooling are Goods, Not Rights - "Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" ~ United States Declaration of Independence
My family & I lived 5 1/2 years under government-run health care. As "rich" foreigners we had privileges the locals didn't have, but the hospitals and clinics didn't have any better equipment or labs for us than for the rest. I have a badly-healed (formerly) broken bone from their "care", and we finally had to move back to the U.S. to keep my wife alive. She is stronger after U.S. market(i.e. patient)-driven heart surgery than she has been in her entire life. Where to go if Obama wins?
Corporations don't drive the cost of healthcare - lawsuits and malpractice insurance drive many of the costs passed along to the patient. Tort reform would lower the price of healthcare tremendously and although there are some cases of true negligence by doctors and hospitals, most are honest mistakes and the risk we, as patients, assume in exchange for the opportunity to get better at the hand of someone who is trained. People have forgotten that doctors still practice medicine and there is risk involved. There is no such thing as a routine procedure or a routine surgery and no 100% guarantee that any medicine or surgical procedure will have the outcome others have had. With socialized medical care, all that we love about the US healthcare system goes away. Say goodbye to research, new drugs, etc. There won't be the money for it. Although that won't matter. By the time you get an appointment and see your doctor, you probably won't need the medicine anyway; you'll be better or dead.
Malpractice insurance not only affects physicians fees but it affects the cost of medicine. Frivolous law suits against physicians and pharmaceutical companies have caused the cost of medical treatment to sky rocket! The idea that big court settlements are only costing the "Big" corporations or "Rich" physicians is totally false. This cost is being passed on to you and me!
I worked in a physicians office when the cost of DPT jumped from $9.00 per vial to $70.00. The 61.00 jump was for malpractice insurance which was passed on to the physician who in turn passed it on to the patient. Eventually many Doctors, due to cost and the risk of lawsuits, discontinued providing this service!
True Tort reform will be difficult to achieve. What percentage of our Senators and Congressmen are attorney's?
