End of Day Notes - October 1, 2009
Bll Smith, Comments On trip to Washington, D.C.: 1. An Opinion from Memphis, TN. Arrived safely in Washington, D.C. to cover Americans for Prosperity Defending the American Dream Summit. One interesting event happened on the shuttle from the private airport parking to the Memphis airport terminal. ; My wife and I were the only passengers. I asked the driver (a male about age 50) about the local Memphis economy. To our amazement, shared about local job situations and businesses closings. He then mentioned how the Government was trying to take over everything and that Congress was ruining our country with debt -- and that the Obama administration was ruining America. My wife and I sat there amazed. We said we were going to D.C. and would attend a rally at the Capitol tomorrow and that we would be representing him an other Americans. By the way, do you suppose his negative comments about the Obama administration were racist? Very doubtful - the driver happened to be black. It was nice meeting and hearing from a fellow American.
2. What a View. Being career military, I had flown many times into National -- now Reagan International. Barring bad weather, you could always catch glimpses of the Capitol and parts of Washington, D.C. However, on this trip and with clear visibility, the airplane approached close to the Pentagon and then made its landing turn right near the WWII Memorial and we followed the Potomac River into the landing strip. We were seated on the left side and had a wonderful view straight down the Mall from the WWII Memorial to the Washington Monument and then to the the U.S. Capitol. The view was stunning!
3. A New Domain. While http://arkansasgopwing.blogspot.com/ remains the domain hosted with Google, after waiting many months for its availability, we now also have the domain http://ARRANewsService.com/. Both will get you to the ARRA News Service but the new domain is easier to remember and to share with friends.
