National Day of Prayer - May Day 2010 - Praying in Washington, D.C.
William J. Murray, Chairman, Religious Freedom Coalition: Congressman Randy Forbes (R-VA) has stepped forward as the flag bearer in the battle to defend the National Day of Prayer. Federal Judge Barbara Crabb recently declared the observance unconstitutional, declaring it as no different than recognizing "rune magic." Her opinion had nothing to do with the Constitution; it was obviously just secularist and anti-Christian bigotry on her part. Congressman Forbes held a news conference with numerous Members of Congress in defense of the National Day of Prayer which was created by an act of Congress. The press conference can be viewed on Youtube in two parts. Links to part one and part two.
Shortly after Judge Barbara Crabb found the National Day of Prayer to be "unconstitutional," a Rasmussen Poll showed exactly how far out of line she is with the mainstream of thought in the United States. According to Rasmussen just 28% of of adult Americans believe that there should be no National Day of Prayer and 60% believe strongly that there should be. Judge Crabb was appointed by President Jimmy Carter and her core beliefs are similar to the judges now being appointed by President Barack Obama.
