9/11 Nine Years Later
Gary Bauer, Contributing Author: At Ground Zero in New York, at the Pentagon and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where United Flight 93 was brought down, Americans gathered on Saturday to mark the ninth anniversary of the Islamic jihadist attack on America. Fox News devoted most of Saturday to coverage of the ceremonies. It also played a montage of clips from its broadcast in 2001 as the events of that terrible day unfolded before a shocked nation.
There have been a lot of shocks in the last nine years. We have seen beheadings, attacks on civilians and bombings in cities like London and Madrid. We witnessed the Thanksgiving attack in Mumbai, India, the attempted Christmas eve bombing as well as dozens of plots uncovered around the globe.
We have seen acid thrown in the faces of Afghan girls, and Palestinian mothers celebrate the deaths of their children who chose to be homicide bombers to kill Jews. We watched a man wearing the uniform of the United States Army walk into a Fort Hood processing center and kill 13 soldiers and an unborn child. We know this enemy plans even greater sorrows for us and for free men and women everywhere.
In every one of these cases and in hundreds of others too numerous to list, the attackers have operated in the name of their Islamic faith. If they were not Muslims, the 19 hijackers on 9/11 would not have been on the planes.
Yet our president and his media allies continue to deny this truth, while they continually lecture us on what they call on our lack of tolerance. I don’t think the country is buying it. In fact, I think America is running out of patience with a president who shows real passion only when he defends Muslim rights.
Imam Feisal’s Friend: “9/11 An Inside Job” - The New York Post reports today that a close associate of Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, who is pushing the Ground Zero mosque, believes that 9/11 was “an inside job.” In 1997, Rauf founded the American Society for Muslim Advancement (ASMA). ASMA and the Cordoba Initiative (another of Rauf’s organizations) are spearheading the drive to raise $100 million for the proposed 13-story Ground Zero mosque.
Faiz Khan was one of the founding board members of the ASMA Faiz Khan. Khan has preached at least twice to the Islamists who currently meet at the abandoned Burlington Coat Factory building, where Rauf plans his mosque. Why is Rauf’s relationship with Khan significant? Khan is a board member of Muslims for 9/11 Truth and a founder of the Muslim-Jewish-Christian Alliance for 9/11 Truth.
On the latter’s website, Khan wrote, “The prime factor for the success of the criminal mission known as 9/11 did not come from the quarter known as ‘militant Islam,’ although the phenomenon known as ‘militant Islamic networks’ may have played a partial role, or even a less than partial role -- perhaps the role of patsy and scapegoat.” So, if Islamists didn’t attack us who did?
In 2006, Khan insisted that the 9/11 hijackers were working for American business interests, and he said that Citicorp and Procter & Gamble were reaping billions from the heroine trade. When the New York Post contacted Khan about his remarks, he did not back down, saying, “I am certain of a few things. . . The towers and WTC 7 could not have collapsed without controlled demolition place[d] from the inside.”
So the “moderate” Imam Rauf is partnering with a man who believes America attacked itself on 9/11. Is this the type of insanity that will be taught at the mosque at Ground Zero in the name of “tolerance”?
