Herman Cain Sweeps Florida Straw Poll
America's Best Choice -(Orlando, FL)- Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain swept the Republican Party of Florida's "Presidency 5" straw poll today in Orlando, capping off his strongest fundraising and grassroots week since the establishment of his campaign in May 2011.
* Herman Cain: 37.11 percent.
* Governor Rick Perry: 15.43 percent.
* Governor Mitt Romney: 14 percent.
* Senator Rick Santorum: 10.88 percent.
* Congressman Ron Paul: 10.39 percent.
* Speaker Newt Gingrich: 8.43 percent.
* Governor Jon Huntsman: 2.26 percent.
* Congresswoman Michele Bachmann: 1.51 percent.
This week, Governor Rick Scott pointed out that the winner of the Presidency 5 straw poll would go on to win the nomination. He explained that former Presidents Ronald Reagan and George Bush, plus 1995 GOP nominee Bob Dole all won Florida straw polls.
"Thank you to the Republican voters for this incredible honor of being named the winner of the Presidency 5 straw poll in Florida today," Cain said. "This is a sign of our growing momentum and my candidacy that cannot be ignored. I will continue to share my message of 'common sense solutions' across this country and look forward to spending more time in Florida, a critical state for both the nomination and the general election."
On Friday evening, Scott Plakon, the Americans for Prosperity- Florida Legislator of the Year who represents the state's 37th district, endorsed Herman Cain in front of more than 1,000 cheering supporters at the Rosen Center in Orlando, Fla. Scott is best known as the sponsor of the Florida Health Care Freedom Act, slated to be Amendment 1 on Florida's 2012 general election ballot.
"I'm proud to support Herman Cain. Our country is suffering right now from bad ideas, bad policies and bad leadership. Herman Cain has the right ideas, the right policies and is a proven business and conservative leader," Scott explained. "Over the last few days at the Orange County Convention Center, I've seen him connect with Florida voters like few candidates I've ever seen. I look forward to working with Herman Cain to see him win Florida and to become the next President of the United States."
In addition to being named the victor of Thursday night's FOX News/ Google/ RPOF Republican presidential candidate debate and the straw poll, Cain spent the entire week in Florida, touring the Sunshine State on his nationwide "Common Sense Solutions Bus Tour," addressing CPAC Florida and speaking at the Presidency 5 festivities.

Its fun now but wait, by Sept 2012 the media will make all the Conservatives disappear; thus Romney v Perry period.
We can't let the media decide this time, everyone needs checkout everything we can about all canidates. we have the time
RR: By 9/2012, we will have a nominee. If it is Cain by then, talking up Romney does no good. Realistically, we'll know who our nominee will be by March-ish. June at the absolute latest.
March you say? :)
I strongly suspect so... the primaries are heavily front-loaded.
Obama/Clinton went until June of 2008, though most of us knew Hillary had no chance. That one was pretty well decided in April, if my memory serves me correctly.
I will be keeping the nose to the grindstone.
Cain doesn't seem to be the best unless he has a great VP but what's the choices so far - Romney thinks you can cram health care on people and I don't care if he thinks that's the state's right or not 9we're talking about people, imo, rights over any gvmt.) Perry thinks you can push pills or meds on girls against their will or their parents as well (again, don't care if he apologizes or not or says "oops" it says too much about his mind set toward people versus govt.). Newt lying on the couch with Pelosi is over the top on the global warming pick our pocket non sense that Gore pd him to do. Some on the GOP platform need to be running against Barry now in his primaries. We can't wait to be told who our choice is by libs voting in our primaries or the media picking em for us. I do not see our best choice on stage yet, imo. BTW, do not put too much stock in a so called FL. vote - friends of mine in FL didn't have the $175 it cost to vote or the inside info to do so and it was real not something Cain should boast too much in.
@Mark could you show me some facts regarding Newt lying about global warming: watch what he said to congress: http://youtu.be/TEOXI88lSw8
Just watched the commercial he did (2007?) just yesterday and remember when he did it - I'll try to find the link
I have watched it. Just youtube search Newt Gingrich and you can see many from him. Also go to his site and preview the movies he and his wife produced. Have you read any of his books.
Herman Cain supported TARP - while criticizing "free market purists." He also endorsed Romney in '08. He also opposes an independent audit of the Federal Reserve. His 9-9-9 plan only lowers the existing tax and adds a new one, with only promises of never raising taxes.
Hey Bill, Thanks... I LOVE your friend Herman Cain. He is so awesome. Thanks
