Obama Admin Wants More People on Food Stamps
That's right... more than one in seven Americans are on food stamps. Think about that for a moment. Now consider the fact that millions are being spent by the Obama administration to advertise and encourage more people to sign up.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has been running radio ads for the past four months encouraging those eligible to enroll. The campaign is targeted at the elderly, working poor, the unemployed and Hispanics.So, let's get this straight.... millions of taxpayer dollars are being spent on a program that the targeted audience is currently doing without. They are getting by without becoming part of the governmental machine that loves to lure people in and keep them in need forever.
The department is spending between $2.5 million and $3 million on paid spots, and free public service announcements are also airing. The campaign can be heard in California, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, and the New York metro area.
"Research has shown that many people -- particularly underserved seniors, working poor, and legal immigrants -- do not understand the requirements of the program," said Kevin Concannon, a USDA under secretary.
Some 46.4 million people are in the food stamps program, also known as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP. Still, more than one in four Americans eligible for food stamps do not participate, according to USDA records.
And the rate is much lower among the the elderly and people just above the poverty line. Nearly two-thirds of folks in these categories aren't enrolled.

I try not to read too much about what's going on...it makes me ANGRY that folks are so...(no gentle way to say it, at this time) STUPID! When I was being raised, my parents would sit at the dinner table over coffee & discuss current events. Mom & dad were democrats. Dad explained that "Democrats were for the people; republicans for businesses" But the VERY FIRST time I voted, in 1976, I COULD NOT (in good conscience) vote for a democrat. I did not agree with ANYTHING they represented. My work ethic was instilled in me at an early age. Dad owned his own business (a successful machine shop) and then sold it and went to work for a struggling machine shop & turned it around (as foreman) and made it flourish! W*O*R*K not entitlements are what make a people, a nation, strong & great....NOT HAND OUTS. We all, occasionally, need a hand up and help in crisis~~

When communities not government help their neighbors the results are multiplied. One, because there is a relationship. When government promotes and provided food stamps a large majority become enslaved. And with Food Stamps there is no relationship but there is a loss of pride. Growing up my family was "dirt poor" for those that understand but pride kept us on track even when we missed a few meals.
When I was enlisted with a family, we were even eligible for "food stamps" but neither of us would accept them. We sensed the price it would cost us and continued to find meaningful ways to find ways to do additional work and to save and provide for ourselves. I guess that is why we found ourselves voting Republican long before we knew about their principles or beliefs.
