The End of the World?

ARRA News Service Editor: Some have claimed that the Mayans predicted the "End of the World, let me see,  a few days ago, today or even this coming Sunday. While mankind sure can screw up this world, only God knows when the world will end and and God hasn't told any Mayans, Republicans, Democrats, survivalist, progressive anarchist or any other group of people.

CNN reports, "[N]ot even modern-day Mayans bought into the coming apocalypse. They view the calendar as portending the end of one era and heralding the start of a new one, not the death of all the world's species. "It's an era. We are lucky to see how it ends," said wood carver Santos Esteban in Yaxuna, Mexico, a sleepy village of fewer than 700 Mayans." They also added, "It will happen!" a CNN.com commenter using the handle Robert Lawless predicted cheekily. "All credible Mayan historians will agree, the Mayans predicted the World would end the same year Twinkies went extinct! HOW DID THEY KNOW????"
