Republicans Mark 1,400 Days With #NoDemBudget
WASHINGTON, D.C. – As Americans mark the 1,400th day since the Democrat-led Senate passed a federal budget, Senate Republicans launched a new website, “Pass A Senate Budget,” calling on the Senate Majority Leaders to do their job and propose a responsible economic blueprint. The new microsite features a number of resources for Americans to tell Senate Democrats we need a plan to rein in Washington’s reckless spending.
“They say failing to plan is planning to fail, but unfortunately, that’s been the Democrats’ approach to our budgetary challenges for nearly four years. Meanwhile, we’ve lurched from crisis to crisis as the national debt surpassed $16.6 trillion and federal spending skyrocketed by 19 percent since 2008,” said U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.). “It’s time for the Democrat-led Senate to get serious about spending, and to get serious about passing a budget.”
Politico’s Scott Wong noted in today’s Huddle, “House and Senate Republicans will highlight the 1,400th day since the Democrat-controlled Senate passed a budget with a coordinated push online, including a new microsite featuring videos, news, op-eds, and other resources. The effort, spearheaded by Conference Chairman John Thune and Vice Chairman Roy Blunt, will include a Web video highlighting some of the events (creation of the iPad! Facebook surpasses MySpace!) that have taken place in the nearly 4 years since the Senate had a budget. GOP'ers will continue to highlight their efforts on Twitter today using #NoDemBudget.”
