Alexander tells Corps he won't approve funding requests if Corps won't stop fishing restrictions
U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander: During today's Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee hearing regarding funding for the Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander (R.-Tenn.) said, "We don't need a big brother holding our hand while we're fishing down in Tennessee. If you aren't going to pay attention to the elected representatives of the people of Tennessee and Kentucky and other states, I'm not going to pay attention to your judgment...You're going to find it very hard to get my approval for any reprogramming request for the Corps of Engineers anywhere in the country until I get the Corps' attention on this issue."

Wish Florida would do the same. Florida has a great wildlife management department. We don't need the federal fishing laws. The Feds restricted a huge portion of our fishing, not because of bad data or science, but because they had no data or science to show we weren't overfishing. "But we all know it is the fault of weekend fishermen that we have declining fish populations" says the commercial fishing lobbyist to the congressman
