AC Action Fund” Super PAC Launched - New Ad: #BookerFAIL
Washington, D.C.— American Commitment’s Phil Kerpen is launching American Commitment Action Fund (AC Action Fund), a new Super PAC dedicated to defeating big government liberals and electing free-market conservatives in races for federal office. The group is expected to be a major player in the 2014 election cycle, and is already entering the political fray with a hard-hitting ad campaign targeting Newark Mayor Cory Booker, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in the 2013 special election to succeed Frank Lautenberg.
“AC Action Fund is committed to making the necessary investments to defeat liberals for federal office and support free-market conservatives to return our nation to prosperity,” said Phil Kerpen, Founder of AC Action Fund. “Our first project will expose Cory Booker’s proven record of failure and division that is being hidden behind a façade of media and Twitter celebrity. We’re launching this initiative with an initial commitment of $100,000 and anticipate raising and investing significant additional funds.”
The new online ad, titled “BookerFAIL: The Charade Is Over,” juxtaposes Booker’s polished campaign image with his real record of failure, breeding division, and advancing his own media celebrity at the expense of effective governance as Mayor of Newark.
The ad begins with Cory Booker speaking in a campaign ad: “I’ve spent my career not running from challenges, but toward them. In Newark we got guns off the street.”
The ad transitions to a newsreel with a series of stories discussing a surge in violent crime, drive-by, and fatal shootings following the police force being slashed. This is punctuated by Newark Councilman Ras Baraka declaring, “If we had a Police Department that he didn’t lay off, he wouldn’t have to chase criminals down the street.”
It cuts back to Cory Booker, “I’ve proven that by bringing people together even with big problems, we can make big progress.”
The ad transitions to a riot at City Hall in Newark last year that was triggered by Cory Booker’s illegal vote for a city council replacement, with clips of government officials and citizens declaring “You have divided this city,” “Dictator dictated what he thinks should be,” and “he has his henchmen and political hacks reign terror.”
It cuts back to Cory Booker again, “Washington ducks our problems. I won’t.”
The ad transitions to criticism of an absentee mayor more concerned with celebrity than governing. “Whenever there’s a real issue in this city that needs to be resolved, the mayor is nowhere to be found,” declares Councilman Ras Baraka. “The only way you can see the mayor is if you turn on Meet the Press. We need a leader of this city. We don’t need a cheerleader. We don’t need a boy scout. And we don’t need Superman.”
It fades to “The Charade Is Over.”
The campaign is using the hashtag #BookerFAIL on Twitter, and the ad can be viewed online at: BookerFAIL.com.
