The Islamist Threat Remains Real on 9/11

Andrea Lafferty, Traditional Values Coalition issued the following statement on the 12th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York and Washington:"On September 11th, 2001 the United States fell victim to yet another attack inspired by Islam. It was not the first, nor would it be the last attempt by Islamists seeking to cause direct harm to the people and to the institutions that have been a beacon of liberty for millions across the globe.

"Today the threat from Islamist terror is perhaps more real and evident in America’s communities than ever before. 80% of the mosques in the United States have been built since 9/11. Of those mosques, 4 out of 5 believe that violence in some form is an acceptable means of spreading the Islamic faith. These mosques are actively bullying local governments to approve of mosques that no ordinary church or business would be able to receive. Even our own State Department is pledging to use the “old-fashioned techniques of peer pressure and shaming” to coerce Americans into accepting the new normal, preventing any critical assessment of Islam at all.

"Islamist groups are assiduously campaigning to ensure that shariah is allowed the widest possible authority within Islamic communities. Organizations such as CAIR are encouraging their members not to speak with the FBI. The halal foods industry – estimated to be an $8 billion trade in France alone – is taking root in American supermarkets (to include meats sacrificed to Allah), all of which funnels into shariah finance and provides increasing latitude for other resources to go towards Islamist terror organizations such as Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.

"9/11 is slowly being forgotten by Americans. It is receding from memory to historical footnote, and that is a shame. Islamists have not forgotten the lessons of 9/11. They are waiting, watching, building towards the next attack. Yet vigilance still remains the price of liberty.

"Today we remember the victims of Islam. Today we remember the fruits of a geopolitical military system wrapped in the cloak of faith that embraces violence and has no concept of a development of doctrine. Rather than buckling to Islam, defenders of religious liberty should be insisting Islamic scholarship have an urgent conversation within itself as to whether or not violence in a free society can be tolerated as a means of religious or political expression, and recapture the role of reason as a mitigating force to temper such inherent violence.

"Today we remember those who have placed their lives upon the altar of freedom to ensure that we may learn the lessons of 9/11, and pledge today and again that we shall never forget their sacrifice or our loved ones lost."----------------
