Senate Fails to Override Obama’s Keystone XL Veto
On Wednesday, the Senate failed to override President Obama’s veto of legislation authorizing construction of the Keystone XL pipeline.
The legislation was vetoed by President Obama on Feb. 24, 2014; his first veto of major legislation as president.
Sixty-two senators voted to authorize construction of the pipeline, five short of the 67 votes needed to override a presidential veto. Thirty-seven voted to sustain the veto.
See how your senators voted here:
Gary Bauer, Contributing Author summed up the situation: The Keystone Lesson - What more can we say that hasn't already been said about the Keystone pipeline? This battle has gone on for six and a half years. Last week President Obama vetoed bi-partisan legislation authorizing construction of the pipeline. Yesterday the Senate failed to override his veto on a 62-to-37 vote.
The veto is not the big story. The big story is that the national Democratic Party is so infected with Obamaism that its reasonable moderate wing is virtually nonexistent. Every American politician should want to increase America's energy supply from a friendly ally. But not anymore.
That the vast majority of Senate Democrats are willing to let this project die bodes badly for our future. Whether it's the Keystone pipeline or stopping Obama's executive amnesty, liberal senators are unwilling to defend their constitutional obligations and more interested in advancing Obama's radical agenda at any cost.
Here's something else to keep in mind. While it's a double-edged sword (hurting our domestic oil industry), low oil prices are hurting Iran and Russia. Obama just passed up a great opportunity to exert even more strategic leverage over our enemies.
In addition, and I know this will come as a shock to many, he's lying to us. He keeps insisting that Keystone's oil will go overseas and benefit other countries, not America. Once again, he's demonstrating total ignorance of market economies.
But, more importantly, he's just flat wrong. The Washington Post Fact Checker gave Obama Four Pinocchios for his whopper that Keystone's oil "bypasses the U.S."

Who wrote the Law saying it takes 67 to override the veto. what happened to Majority. That would be like saying the football score 62 to 37 means the one with 37 wins the game.
Our forefathers "Article One, Section 7, United States Constitution.
I know Bill, was just sitting here thinking. Thank you
Should have known. Updated the article to includes some words by one of my Contributing Authors, Gary L. Bauer : The Keystone Lesson ...
Disappointing, huh?!
Try another way you who know right from wrongheaded.
Josie Atkinson Confused by your comment All the Republicans with a few Dems voted the correct way and the Democrats voted the incorrect way. There was no "RINO BS" on this vote to override the presidents veto. Constitutionally, takes 2/3 to override a veto,
You might be thinking of the vote in the House on DHS funding.
