Religious Persecution - Where Are The Pastors? The Silence Is Deafening!
by Joyce Cook, Letter to Editor: The pitchforks were out last week after an unsuspecting young woman whose family owned a pizza restaurant in Walkerton, Ind., was ambushed by a reporter who was on a mission to find some raging "homophobes" in that small town. The reporter asked the young woman about catering a hypothetical same-sex wedding and all heck broke loose.
The woman said that due to her family's religious beliefs that they could not cater this imaginary wedding. However, the point most people miss is that toward the end of the interview the woman stated she would have no problem serving a gay couple pizza in her restaurant.
Within minutes of posting the story the pizzeria got death threats and threats to burn down their store. Death threats in America? For having a religious conviction? Where's the "tolerance?"
Then, there's the story of Baronelle Stutzman, the 70-year-old florist in Washington state. In 2013, a long-time friend and customer asked her to provide flowers for his homosexual wedding. Stutzman had known this man and had done business with him for about nine years. Nevertheless, she told him that she could not participate in his wedding because of her "relationship with Jesus."
A judge found that she must provide full support for wedding ceremonies that are contrary to her faith. Also, the homosexual couple may collect damages and attorneys fees not only from her business, but from Stutzman personally, which may mean the loss of her home and savings.
Stutzman isn't intolerant. She's been selling flowers to this homosexual couple for nine years and employed homosexuals at her shop.
A hidden camera video that has had well over two million hits shows a man going into Muslim bakeries asking them to bake a wedding cake for him and his male partner. Many refused him service, but the mainstream media didn't get in a tizzy.
This is further proof that the left is targeting Christians and Christian businesses. Silence isn't an option for Christians anymore. I've only seen one local pastor write to this newspaper defending Christians on this subject. Where are the others?
