BREAKING: Bill to DEFUND Obama Internet takeover advances!
Keep the Pressure On! |
Every Republican on the committee and one brave Democrat, Henry Cuellar of Texas, voted to stop Obama’s plan.
This is a big step forward, and now the bill, which blocks all funding for the plan until courts determine its legality, will move on to the full House. And we are counting on you to keep the pressure on.
White House political operatives developed the president's grotesque 317-page plan to regulate and tax the Internet, and the Democrats at the FCC, which is supposed to be an independent agency, happily approved it.
Do we really want the FCC's "Enforcement Bureau" deciding what is and isn't allowed on the Internet?
Here’s how they voted. A YES vote was a vote to fund Obama’s Internet takeover:
It was a great bipartisan victory in committee, and now we need to keep the pressure on as we head to a House floor vote and then on to the Senate!
This fight grew even more urgent today when the FCC Enforcement Bureau levied a $100 million fine against AT&T for supposed violations of a transparency rule that wasn’t in effect yet and that they did not violate. You can read Republican FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai’s brilliant dissent here. It starts, appropriately, with a Kafka quote.
And then head to The American Commitment action page to keep the pressure on.
