Reagan and Goldwater
Paul Jacob, Common Sense: On October 27, 1964, Ronald Reagan delivered a speech on behalf of Republican candidate for president, Barry Goldwater, thereby launching Reagan’s political career. The speech came to be known as “A Time for Choosing.”
Dr. Bill Smith, ARRA News Service: I just turned 18, was eligible for the draft, BUT could NOT vote. Regardless, I was all-in and was supporting Barry Goldwater. Unfortunately, Goldwater did not win. A year and a half later I was married and drafted. Skipping forward in what became a military career, I was very proud to serve my last 8 years under the leadership of Ronald Reagan.
