What Iran Deal? - 9/11 & Immigration - The Face Of Evil
The Iranian parliament, the Majlis, approved the deal last week, but that doesn't mean anything. Moreover, the Iranians are again demanding that sanctions be "terminated" rather than suspended.
The Middle East Media Research Institute reports that Ayatollah Jannati, secretary-general of Iran's Guardian Council, said Friday: "There are those who think that approval by the Majlis means approval of the execution of the agreement in Iran. This is not so. . . Leader [Khamenei] still has not signed it."
What is the supreme leader saying? "Negotiation with America is forbidden," was the message on Ayatollah Khamenei's Facebook page Friday.
9/11 & Immigration - Donald Trump and Jeb Bush have been trading shots for the past few days, which is unfortunate. I wish they were exchanging fire with Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders, and not each other.
It all started last week when Trump appeared to blame George W. Bush for the 9/11 attacks. Trump said, "I mean, say what you want, the World Trade Center came down during his time."
I don't see the value in suggesting, even indirectly, that George W. Bush was responsible for 9/11. But it was the second half of Trump's argument that intrigued me. Yesterday, on Fox News Sunday, Trump said:
I did some research to refresh my memory, and Trump has a limited point. The visas may have been approved, but they shouldn't have been.
ABC News reported that an examination of the visas held by the 9/11 hijackers found errors so serious that at least 15 of the terrorists should have been denied entry. For example, two hijackers listed their destination in the U.S. as "Wasantwn." Their visas were approved.
We know that visa overstays are a huge contributing factor to our illegal immigration problem. Four of the 9/11 hijackers were in the country illegally, having overstayed their visas.
Yet it appears we have learned virtually nothing. In the years following the 9/11 attacks, we have increased the number of student visas to Saudi nationals by 500%.
Last year the Department of Homeland Security admitted that it had "lost track of more than 6,000 foreign nationals who entered the United States on student visas."
Most of the 9/11 hijackers had driver's licenses or identification cards issued by the state of Florida. Trump hasn't brought that up yet, but he probably will given who was governor at the time.
In short, this whole area is a minefield for Jeb Bush. On top of everything else, Bush has endorsed providing illegal immigrants with driver's licenses, putting him on the same side as Hillary Clinton and against most Americans.
I hope in the weeks ahead, Bush and Trump demonstrate the same passion in going after Hillary Clinton as they are demonstrating in their attacks on each other!
The Face Of Evil - When you think of evil in the world today, what image comes to mind? Perhaps it's the black-clad thugs of ISIS cutting the throats of Christians. Maybe it's the bespectacled Ayatollah Khamenei chanting, "Death to Israel, Death to America." Perhaps it's a steely-eyed Vladimir Putin plotting his next conquest.
All of those images would be understandable. I suspect the farthest thing from your mind would be a little girl with pink ribbons in her hair.
But evil was the only thing that came to my mind as I watched the video of little Rahf Abuesha, holding a large carving knife, saying, "I want to stab a Jew."
My anger is not directed at the girl, but rather at her father, Abdulhaleem, a teacher at a refugee camp in Jordan. Teaching children, like this otherwise adorable little girl, to hate and to kill is evil -- pure and simple.
As we sit comfortably in our office suites, walking about our shopping malls or enjoying dinner in bustling restaurants, Israelis are confronted by a reality that is almost too dark for many Americans to imagine: They are literally surrounded by enemies who are taught from birth to kill Jews.
This is what Israel is facing each and every day.
The ancient hatred of anti-Semitism is alive and well. It is being nurtured in schools, in mosques and in homes throughout Gaza, the West Bank and the entire Middle East. The evil that teaches kids to kill is just one symptom of the virulent virus that is radical Islam.
Israel is the tip of the spear in the fight against militant Islam. America must stand with Israel.
